Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities are set to be particularly memorable this year as Old St. Patrick’s Church proudly marks its 180th anniversary, a significant milestone in the city’s rich history.

To honor nearly two centuries of faith, tradition, and community, the church is inviting all of Chicago to join in the celebrations of “Irish Week.” This week is highlighted by two major events: the renowned Siamsa na nGael, which will take place at the Symphony Center on Monday, March 9, and the 5th annual Shamrock’n celebration on Saturday, March 14.

Rev. Patrick McGrath, the pastor of Old St. Pat’s, expressed his excitement about the events, stating, “We are thrilled to present this annual gift to the City of Chicago every March. Both Siamsa 2026 and Shamrock’n offer wonderful opportunities for Chicagoans to engage with and celebrate the rich Irish traditions that are integral to Old St. Pat’s.”

Siamsa na nGael, the centerpiece of Irish Week, will take place at Orchestra Hall on Monday, March 9. This year’s performance is themed “180 Years of Old St. Patrick’s and the Irish in Chicago,” and it promises to be a stunning tribute to the enduring Irish spirit in the city.

The event will feature a world-class lineup, showcasing the best of Irish culture and heritage.

  • The Metropolis Orchestra and the Old St. Patrick’s Concert Choir.
  • The Gardiner Brothers: 5x World Champion Irish dancers.
  • Broadway Star Megan McGinnis, joined by acclaimed soloists Devin DeSantis and Catherine O’Connell.
  • The Trinity Irish Dancers, Leo High School Choir, and Irish Trad band.

The celebration continues on Saturday, March 14, with the 5th annual Shamrock’n, a high-energy festival featuring beer, bands, and the best of the West Loop. This “drop-in or stay all day” event is designed for all ages, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere to kick off the city’s parade weekend.

Highlights include:

  • Live Entertainment: Non-stop Irish music and professional dance performances.
  • Pub Fare & Beverages: Traditional Irish dishes and a selection of delicious beverages.
  • Family Fun: Activities for kids of all ages, including face painting and crafts.
