SAVANNAH, Ga. — As the workweek kicks off, residents in Savannah can expect a brisk and chilly Monday, signaling a return to winter’s embrace.
A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued, effective from midnight until 9 a.m. Monday, with anticipated wind chills plunging between 15 and 20 degrees.

On Sunday, strong winds swept through the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, with gusts exceeding 40 mph across much of the area. Notably, Savannah recorded a gust reaching 59 mph.

Although the winds are predicted to subside slightly from Sunday night into Monday, colder and drier air will continue to infiltrate the region.
Monday morning temperatures are expected to dip just below the freezing point. Coupled with winds ranging from 10 to 15 mph, it will feel as though the temperatures are in the mid-teens to low twenties.
Winds will turn gusty again at times Monday, with gusts to 25 mph or higher possible. This, coupled with very low relative humidity, means that the fire danger will be elevated. Be sure to avoid burning outdoors Monday since a brush fire can get out of hand quickly.
Temperatures struggle to warm into the upper-40s, which is over ten degrees below average. Winds finally relax Monday night, which will allow temperatures to tumble early.
A hard freeze is expected for most of the area as lows dip into the mid to upper 20s. Light winds will bring a wind chill factor in the low to mid 20s. Be sure to protect the Four P’s!

Temperatures slowly warm up by midweek, with Wednesday morning bringing a light freeze for those of you west of I-95. Highs return to the 60s and 70s for the rest of the week.
A storm system makes its way into the region by Thursday into Friday. This will bring the opportunity for showers to end the week.
