In a letter released on the official website of Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor, the game’s director, Natsume, highlighted the excellent response and expressed gratitude to the players who have joined the hunt. Natsume also addressed early technical bugs causing inconvenience and assured the community that the development team is working diligently to implement fixes.

“We will continue to give our all to development and operation so that everyone can thoroughly enjoy the game. We look forward to your continued support,” the director wrote. Natsume also teased that exciting announcements and a long-awaited major update are scheduled to arrive in March.

Developed by WonderPlanet and published by Bushiroad, Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor is a fast-paced roguelike action game designed for one-handed play. The gameplay allows fans to control their favorite characters against overwhelming waves of enemies using their unique Nen abilities. Players must choose four companions to assemble a specialized team in order to strategically overpower the enemies.

The game features diverse growth elements, including level-ups, Nen training and lineage strengthening, allowing players to push their favorite Hunters beyond their limits to master increasingly difficult stages.

The developers had released a new animated short when the game first launched, featuring the main cast — Gon, Killua, Leorio and Kurapika — engaged in high-octane combat against a horde of enemies, mirroring the action found within the game.

The trailer was well-received by fans who have been starved for new animated content, as the Hunter x Hunter anime has not released a new episode since 2014. This surge of interest likely helped propel the title to the top of the Japanese App Store download tallies, which are calculated based on the total number of iPhone apps and games downloaded between Monday and Sunday of the previous week.

Interestingly, Hunter x Hunter Nen x Survivor wasn’t the only anime-related title to make waves; SLOT Puella Magi Madoka Magica 2 and Pachislot Kaguya-sama: Love Is War also debuted on the same weekly chart at no. 8 and no. 10, respectively.
