Sherry Cardoso Biography – Sherry Cardoso Wiki
Sherry E. Cardoso plays a dual role as both executive chef and partner at Cynthia, an upscale dining spot set to debut in New York’s West Village. She is also showcasing her culinary talents on the 23rd season of Bravo’s “Top Chef.”
Originally from New York, Cardoso spent much of her upbringing in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Her culinary passion was nurtured by her mother and aunt, who both played pivotal roles in her life during her mother’s travels. Weekends spent exploring her uncle’s farm and experimenting in the kitchen further fueled her love for cooking.
At 14, she returned to the U.S. to live with her elder sister and pursued a culinary education at a community college in New Jersey. Balancing motherhood and studies, she soon landed her first kitchen role at Le Cirque, working under Chef Christophe Bellanca, where she honed her skills in French cuisine.
Cardoso’s career progressed as she took on a sous chef role with Chef Michael Psilakis at the Michelin-starred Greek eatery Anthos. Her journey continued with four years at Per Se under Chef Thomas Keller, followed by her role as the Executive Sous Chef at Brooklyn Fare. Her first executive chef position was at Café Cluny, located in New York’s West Village.
Her expertise then led her to a leadership position with Chef Greg Baxtrom at Baxtrom Hospitality Group, where she directed the culinary operations for three major restaurant openings over three years. As the Executive Chef at Metropolis by Marcus, she further established her culinary vision, now culminating in her latest venture as Chef and Partner at Cynthia, slated to open in March.
