A man from Florida faces charges of aggravated manslaughter following the tragic death of his 5-week-old baby over a year ago, due to severe injuries.

Dajuan Patrick, aged 27, was apprehended by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on a warrant issued by Volusia County, as reported by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

The infant, Dahlia Siebenhaar, was admitted to the hospital on December 2, 2024, suffering from critical injuries. She remained unresponsive and unfortunately passed away on December 12 after being removed from life support.

An autopsy revealed Dahlia suffered extensive head injuries, fractured ribs, bruises all over her body, and retinal hemorrhages, which medical experts attributed to violent shaking and being held with “extreme force.” The Chief Medical Examiner of Volusia County, James Fulcher, classified her death as a homicide.

After a comprehensive 15-month investigation examining medical documents, gathering evidence, and conducting interviews, authorities concluded that Patrick had violently shaken and physically abused the newborn.

“The arrest in this case won’t bring Dahlia back or give her the childhood she deserved, but today we’re speaking up for her, because her life mattered,” Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

Patrick is being held without bond in Jacksonville awaiting transport to Volusia County.
