Travis Ramone Pinder, a 35-year-old resident of Ocala, has been sentenced to nine months in jail, in addition to four years on probation, following his plea of nolo contendere to charges of child abuse without causing great bodily harm. This decision was handed down in Gainesville, Florida, reflecting a serious response to the incident.

The case dates back to June 21, 2025, when Pinder was apprehended on charges of aggravated child abuse. Allegations arose after a 17-year-old victim reported that Pinder approached him and struck him on the left side of his face with such force that a portion of his ear was nearly torn off. The victim later realized he had been struck with a gun upon seeing the weapon in Pinder’s possession. A report from the Gainesville Police Department indicated that, even if the victim’s earlobe could be surgically reattached, permanent scarring was highly likely.

In a court proceeding on February 24, Pinder submitted a plea of no contest to the lesser charge of child abuse without great bodily harm, which is classified as a third-degree felony. This charge carries a potential maximum sentence of five years in state prison, according to the plea agreement.

Judge James Colaw issued a sentence mandating Pinder to serve 270 days in jail, with credit for seven days already served. Following his incarceration, Pinder will be under probation for four years. As part of his probation conditions, he is required to complete an anger management program, maintain no contact with the victim, and is forbidden from owning or possessing any weapons or firearms.
