Storm Team 3 Forecast: Brace for Another Freezing Night Before a Slight Wednesday Warm-Up

SAVANNAH, Ga. — A significant cold snap is expected to grip most inland areas as temperatures drop to freezing levels again this Wednesday morning.

This year’s St. Patrick’s Day turned out to be one of the chilliest on record, with morning temperatures dipping into the 30s and afternoon highs barely making it to the 50s.

Another frigid night is on the horizon, swiftly moving in under clear skies and still winds. Temperatures are predicted to plunge into the upper-20s to lower-30s by Wednesday morning.

A Freeze Warning has been issued for nearly all regions west of Interstate 95, effective from midnight until 10 a.m.

By Wednesday, the day is expected to bring slightly milder conditions, with temperatures climbing to the upper-50s and lower-60s.

More clouds try to move in late in the day and northeasterly winds will keep temperatures from warming significantly.

As we move through the rest of the week, expect a warm-up with a frost or light freeze inland on Thursday morning followed by highs in the upper-60s to even some lower-70s.

80s return for the weekend and humidity is back by Sunday. Other than spotty showers or storms, the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry are mainly rain-free through the weekend.

A pattern change arrives next week bringing meaningful rain chances as soon as Monday or Tuesday, and a cool-down to seasonal numbers as we close out March.
