Jenkins High School Celebrates as Two Star Athletes Head to College

In Savannah, Georgia, Jenkins High School hosted a special event on Thursday to honor two exceptional athletes who are set to advance their educational and sports endeavors. The celebration took place in the school’s auditorium, where the community gathered to acknowledge their achievements.

A’Niyah Browner is poised to join the inaugural flag football team at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), set to debut in the spring of 2027. Reflecting on her decision, Browner shared, “SCAD felt like home to me. They offered so much more, and I just knew it was the right choice when I visited.”

Meanwhile, Ke’Ara Jones has committed to playing basketball at Georgia Southern University’s East Campus. The program, transitioning from a junior college to the NAIA division next season, promises exciting opportunities for Jones. “Flag football was just a way to stay fit between basketball seasons,” Jones explained. “It’s an opportunity not everyone gets, and I’m grateful for it.”

Ke’Ara Jones decided to play basketball at Georgia Southern University — East Campus. Formely program competed at the junior college level and plans to transition to NAIA next season.

“Flag was just like a little side sport while basketball was going on,” Jones said. “So I played flag just to stay in shape for when basketball comes around. It’s an opportunity that everybody don’t get it. I got it. So it’s a blessing.”

Browner and Jones were a part of the Jenkins flag football team that made history this past December, as the first girls’ team sport in SCCPSS to compete for a state title.

They also were a part of the girls’ basketball team that advanced to the state semifinals during the 2024-2025 season and state quarterfinals during the 2025-2026 season.
