Hoopeston Resident Faces Charges for Alleged Vehicle Assault

In Hoopeston, Illinois, a local man was apprehended by police early Monday and is now facing several serious charges, including aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. The arrest took place around 2:15 a.m. near the 400 block of W. Elm Street, according to the Hoopeston Police Department’s daily bulletin.

The individual in question, 60-year-old Omar Smith, has been formally charged with three offenses. He faces a Class 4 felony for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, as well as two Class A misdemeanors for domestic battery. The misdemeanor charges include causing bodily harm and making physical contact.
