JOLIET, Ill. (WLS) — According to police reports, a high-speed pursuit in the south suburbs concluded with a crash that resulted in four individuals being taken to the hospital early Sunday morning.
Authorities indicated that a Joliet officer spotted a Cadillac CTS driving without active headlights or taillights as it headed south on Raynor Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m.

When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the Cadillac’s driver, a 21-year-old local man, turned west onto Black Road and immediately accelerated at a high speed, police stated. The officer refrained from following beyond Black Road and Midland Avenue, prioritizing public safety.
Officials recounted that witnesses and the officer saw the Cadillac running a red light at the intersection of Black Road and Larkin Avenue, colliding with a Chevrolet Cruze that was proceeding north with a green light. Following the impact, the Cadillac veered off, struck a utility pole, and overturned onto a nearby grassy patch.
Police detailed that the sole occupant of the Cadillac, the driver, had to be freed from the vehicle. He was transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center with critical injuries and later airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Police said the Chevrolet’s driver, a 23-year-old Chicago man, and two passengers, both men, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center.
The roadway was closed for several hours while investigators reconstructed the crash scene.
