Raz B is expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support he has received following the heartbreaking death of his 3-month-old son, Astro Monte Thornton.
The B2K singer shared an emotional update through Instagram Stories on Sunday, revealing that he and his wife, Monali, were preparing to say goodbye to their infant son at his funeral on Monday.
“First, I want to thank everyone for all the love, well wishes, and prayers you’ve sent to my wife, our family, and me,” Raz wrote. “Your kindness means more than words can express.”
He added, “As we prepare to lay our sweet Astro to rest this Monday, many of you have reached out wanting to send flowers. We truly appreciate your love and support.”
Astro died unexpectedly last week, with a spokesperson for the family confirming the devastating news in a statement.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Astro Monte Thornton, beloved son of Mona and De’Mario ‘Raz B’ Thornton of the R&B supergroup B2K,” the statement said. “The family asks for privacy as they navigate this difficult time. They truly appreciate your love and support.”

TMZ reported that the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on Wednesday, a day after Astro’s death. The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined and remain under investigation.
Raz B and Monali welcomed Astro in May, making him their second child together. The couple also shares son Versai Carter Thornton, who was born in October 2024. Monali is also the mother of an older daughter from a prior relationship.
In the weeks leading up to Astro’s arrival, the R&B star reflected on the profound meaning of building a family of his own.
“I always wanted to take a real family picture with my own family… and finally, God made a way,” Raz said.
He added, “Right now we’re at the hospital getting ready to welcome our newest addition, Astro .. another baby boy to the Thornton family. Big congratulations to my beautiful wife for being so strong through this journey. Watching you become a mother again is one of the greatest blessings I could ever witness.”
