Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman have emerged as one of the most buzzed-about power couples in sports. During the 2026 US Open, fans spotted the women’s soccer star cheering on Shelton as he delivered dramatic performances and scored major wins against Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe.
The tennis sensation and soccer standout made their romance Instagram official in March 2025. What began with lighthearted online interactions has grown into a relationship in which both athletes offer meaningful encouragement as they navigate the pressure of competing at the highest level.
Shelton has said Rodman is among the people in his inner circle who help him stay grounded and accountable.
“There are a few people that keep me honest,” he told Vanity Fair. “My girlfriend is one of them. I think, with us both being professional athletes, we’re able to relate on certain things and keep things in a certain perspective.”
The tennis player also credited Rodman’s upbeat outlook with helping him manage difficult moments. “She’s a very positive person, which helps me,” Shelton said. “If I get down on myself or feel like I am behind in my progression, these are definitely areas that she helps a lot in. She helps me to not get ahead of myself.”

Rodman has shared a similar gratitude for being with someone who understands firsthand the unique expectations and sacrifices that come with life in professional sports.
“It’s the best feeling in the world, honestly,” she said during an appearance on the Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast. “I think to know we’re both on the grind, running our bodies to the ground, always exhausted, doing what we love, and then to also be able to be a little like a WAG in a sense, it feels so good for us.”
And when it comes to seeing each other play in person in the stands, Shelton shared his appreciation for that, explaining, “It’s cool, obviously, to be able to share these moments with her, to be able to go to her games, to be able to play in front of her and the rest of my family.
“The part that I enjoy the most is getting able to play in front of them [family], especially when I’m playing well or in a match like that. That’s enjoyable and entertaining. She definitely gets more nervous than me 100%. I can see it in her face when I’m playing.”
Their support for one another is undeniable, but something fans have wondered about is what their height difference is as Shelton seems to tower over Rodman in photos and videos of them together even when she’s in heels. Well, the Washington Spirit forward stands at 5-foot-8, while Shelton is eight inches taller standing at 6-foot-4.
