Tuesday Storms Give Way to Dry, Breezy Weather Wednesday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida faces another day of scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, but a notable midweek weather change will bring drier conditions, stronger winds and increasingly dangerous beach conditions beginning Wednesday.

Ample tropical moisture remains over the region Tuesday. Rain and storm coverage is expected to reach 50% to 60%, especially inland and west of Interstate 95 after noon as the sea breeze shifts activity westward.

Afternoon temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s, while humidity pushes heat index readings to a sweltering 100 to 107 degrees.

Wednesday & Thursday

A substantially drier air mass is forecast to arrive across Central Florida on Wednesday.

As that air moves in, rain chances will fall for much of the region. A few showers may still develop along the coast and drift inland, however.

Thursday may follow a similar pattern, with the drier conditions possibly holding on longer across northern parts of Central Florida.

Despite the changing rain pattern, daytime highs will remain close to seasonal norms, topping out in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.

Coastal Hazards

Winds, meanwhile, are set to become much more noticeable.

East-northeast winds are expected to strengthen to 15 to 20 mph or more on Wednesday, with gusts potentially reaching 25 to 30 mph.

The stronger onshore flow will create rough surf, hazardous conditions for boaters and a high risk of rip currents along the coast. The elevated rip current threat is expected to remain in place through Thursday.

Weekend

The unsettled pattern returns late week as moisture increases again, bringing higher rain chances area-wide (60-70%) Friday through Monday.

Temperatures will remain seasonally warm, with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.
