A Florida woman allegedly tried to kill her two autistic sons with medication before attempting to take her own life, telling authorities that caring for them had become increasingly difficult.
Marilyn Therrell, 68, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated abuse of a disabled adult, according to Osceola County jail records reviewed by Law&Crime.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said Therrell and both of her sons were expected to survive. The men were still hospitalized and are expected to enter the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families’ Adult Protective Services after their release.

Jail records indicate that Therrell was arrested and booked into custody. She is awaiting arraignment.
Osceola County is in central Florida, just south of Orlando. Its county seat is Kissimmee.
