GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jamarion Dashaun Johnson, 19, was arrested yesterday on allegations that he possessed firearms and ammunition while classified as a gang-related delinquent.
An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) deputy reported that Johnson was adjudicated delinquent in April 2024 for grand theft of a motor vehicle. That adjudication bars him from legally possessing firearms or ammunition until he turns 24.
Johnson has also been on juvenile probation since April 2026 for a felony battery offense. As part of his probation, he was required to wear a GPS monitor.
During the summer of 2026, a Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officer investigated allegations that Johnson had firearms. The officer reportedly located multiple photos and videos dated July and August 2026 that appeared to show Johnson holding a black AR-style pistol and a black 1911 pistol with a brown wooden grip. The officer said GPS data from Johnson’s ankle monitor placed him at his residence when the images and videos were recorded. Johnson also reportedly wrote in a post that the AR-style pistol was functional and that he planned to illegally modify it to fire automatically.
Because Johnson lived in unincorporated Alachua County, the investigation was referred to the ASO.
On September 18, the GPD officer and ASO deputies served a search warrant at Johnson’s home. Investigators reportedly found three loaded handgun magazines, an empty handgun holster, loose ammunition and an empty 5.56 rifle magazine. A black 1911 handgun with a wooden grip was allegedly discovered concealed in a hole in the wall of the closet in Johnson’s bedroom.
After being advised of his Miranda rights, Johnson reportedly acknowledged that he knew he was a delinquent and was also on probation. He confirmed that the bedroom belonged to him and was used only by him. Johnson initially said he had only one or two “clips,” or magazines, containing pistol ammunition beneath his bed. He denied knowing anything about the 1911 handgun.

When the deputy continued questioning him about the pistol, Johnson reportedly changed his account and said, “It’s mine.” He said he had “found” the weapon in the woods about two months earlier and kept it for “protection.” Johnson denied knowing anything about the AR-style pistol, saying that any photos or videos showing him with such a firearm would have depicted a BB gun.
The deputy identified Johnson as a confirmed member of the eastside “43rd Street” criminal gang and an associate of the “4BL” criminal gang.
Johnson faces three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a gang-related delinquent. He has at least two juvenile convictions for offenses that would be classified as felonies if committed by an adult. Judge Luis Bustamante set bail at $300,000.
