Just ten days after announcing her engagement to her long-term partner, Princess Alexandra of Hanover has delighted fans with another glamorous update.
The granddaughter of Oscar-winning actress Grace Kelly shared a striking archival look with her 49,000 Instagram followers: a shimmering, beaded gold gown steeped in royal history.
“Yellow mood in archival Givenchy,” wrote Alexandra, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco and Ernst August von Hannover, alongside the images.
Royal followers were quick to recognise the dress, which was previously worn by Alexandra’s grandmother, Princess Grace, the American actress who became the wife of Prince Rainier III of Monaco.
The floor-length design features delicate straps, a round neckline and a low-cut back. Princess Grace wore the glittering gown in 1962 for the pre-wedding gala celebrating the marriage of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain.
Although it is not known which occasion prompted Alexandra’s show-stopping appearance over the weekend, friends and fans immediately filled the comments with praise.
Alexandra Leclerc, a close friend and the wife of Formula One driver Charles Leclerc, responded with three heart-eyes emojis beneath the royal’s post.
Other admirers drew comparisons with both Alexandra’s mother and grandmother, describing her as “the chicest” and a “gorgeous and elegant young lady”.
The glamorous appearance followed Alexandra’s announcement that she is engaged to her long-term partner, Ben-Sylvester Strautmann, 27.

The couple, who have been together for ten years, revealed their engagement on September 11 through a series of affectionate photographs posted to Alexandra’s personal Instagram account.
In one smiling image with her German partner, Alexandra displayed a sparkling 18-carat yellow and white gold diamond ring.
The photographs were captioned “The marriage plot” and offered followers an intimate glimpse of the couple’s special moment.
Alexandra posed beside her beloved dachshund, Eloise, carefully positioning her left hand to showcase the yellow-diamond ring, created by Antinori di Sanpietro.
She also highlighted the new piece in a photograph of an elegant breakfast spread and another image showing it inside its box on a bedside cabinet. The ring is reported to have a value of approximately £150,000.
Its design incorporates details inspired by Rome’s Piazza del Campidoglio, along with inscriptions including “Antinori” and “Made in Italy” that reflect the couple’s affection for the city.
Royals and celebrities joined Alexandra’s followers in celebrating the news, leaving congratulatory messages beneath her Instagram post.

Lady Kitty Spencer, Princess Diana’s niece, replied: ‘Aah congratulations,’ with a string of red love hearts; while Alexandra Leclerc, wife of racing driver Charles, said: ‘Congratulations!!!!’ and added four heart emojis.
Princess Alexandra and Strautmann made their relationship official in 2017 after they were first publicly spotted together in late 2016.
German-born Strautmann relocated to Monaco as a child where he became a professional basketball player. He now works in finance.
The princess was born in Vocklabruck, Upper Austria, and boasted a distant claim to the British throne until September 2018, when she was removed from the line of succession after she converted to Catholicism.
Now a writer, the princess was formerly an accomplished junior figure skater and even represented her country at the European Youth Olympics.
She and Mr Strautmann are well-established members of Monaco’s social scene, spotted at events including the Bal D’Ete At The Musee Des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.
The pair have also joined the princess’s uncle and aunt, Prince Albert and Charlene of Monaco, as guests of honour at the Principality’s many gala balls.
