Dolly Parton’s Security Chief Nephew Booted in Estate Feud

A family dispute appears to be unfolding over Dolly Parton’s estimated $450 million fortune. Although her wealth is often linked to hits such as “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You,” a significant portion came from her stake in the Dollywood theme park. The country music legend died on August 25, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy—and an estate as immense as the outpouring of grief from her fans. Because Parton never had children, questions surrounding her inheritance plans have remained unanswered. Now, TMZ reports that tensions are growing within her family.

Bryan Seaver, Parton’s nephew and longtime head of security, was the family member who announced her death in an Instagram video last month. He has since been abruptly dismissed from the role he held for more than two decades, following in the position after his father. A termination notice was delivered Wednesday, and new security teams quickly assumed control of Parton’s Nashville residence, her museum and several other properties. Seaver’s team said it was “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions.”

As the news hit the internet, fans flocked to social media to share their concerns. In particular, many argued that Dolly Parton’s family fighting over her massive fortune is not what she would have wanted. “Dolly would be so upset that her family were fighting,” one fan commented under TMZ’s Instagram post. Another added, “Damn. Dolly was an astute business woman so I’m sure she had her affairs in order. But her family is really big so there was bound to be drama. Smh.” It seems, however, that there are more players in the game than just the “Jolene” hitmaker’s family. According to TMZ, Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell, and Pinnacle Bank were behind Bryan Seaver’s termination. 

“We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family,” he clarified. “And we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.” In Seaver’s Instagram video announcing her passing, Parton’s longtime security guard thanked his aunt for giving him the opportunity to work for her, noting, “Dolly opened doors not just for me, but for her entire family to reach the potential we didn’t even know was possible.” Those words sting in the wake of his firing.
