Sovereign Bo Raymond is officially 6 years old!
Usher and Jenn Goicoechea celebrated their daughter’s birthday on Instagram Sept. 24, sharing heartfelt tributes and photos from the joint party Sovereign enjoyed with her younger brother, Sire, who turns 5 on Sept. 29.
Sovereign’s special celebration had a “Let’s Get Fancy!” theme. The young guests dressed up in tiaras, feather boas and gloves before taking part in a mini fashion show.
“Happy 6th Birthday to my daughter Sovereign!!” Usher wrote in the caption of his post.
Goicoechea shared a longer birthday message for her daughter, whom she lovingly calls “The Bo.”
“Sovereign ‘The Bo’ Raymond, all I can say is—you are living proof that love heals all,” she wrote. “Your heart, your joy, and the way you love so freely are truly amazing to witness. You bring so much light into our lives just by being YOU.”
She added, “Watching you grow has been one of my greatest blessings. Never lose that beautiful heart, that big personality, or the love you give so effortlessly. We love you beyond words, my baby. Happy 6th Birthday, Sové! @usher.”
Alongside the tribute, Goicoechea posted a photo of herself and Sovereign. In the picture, the birthday girl holds a bouquet of flowers and wears oversized glasses spelling out “Happy Birthday.”
Another image shows Sovereign in profile, modeling braids decorated with colorful letter clips that spell her name.
“She insisted that the hair be shown lol,” Goicoechea joked.
Born Sept. 24, 2020, about a month before she was expected to arrive, Sovereign is Usher and Goicoechea’s first child together and the singer’s only daughter. The couple welcomed their son, Sire Castrello Raymond, the following year.
In a May 2021 interview with Extra, Usher explained why he chose the name Sovereign for his daughter.
“Sovereign, man, is such a beautiful word and name to me, you know, a supreme ruler is obviously the defined name,” he said. “She’s definitely ruling the household, but Sovereign Bo — Bo is at the end of it, so [she’s] my little ‘reign-bo.’”
Usher also shares two older sons, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 18, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, 17, with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster.
