Self-Described ‘Intuitive Healer’ Makes Chilling Admission After Fatally Stabbing His Mother in Gated Florida Community

A man who described himself as an “intuitive healer” allegedly stabbed his elderly mother to death inside a gated Florida community before telling police he was responsible.

Alexander Harrington, 50, faces a charge of first-degree premeditated murder in the death of his 77-year-old mother, Susan Baratto, at the Monterey Lake community in Delray Beach earlier this month, CBS12 reported.

According to an affidavit obtained by the news outlet, Harrington called Boca Raton’s non-emergency dispatch center on the afternoon of Sept. 11. He allegedly identified himself and said he had killed his mother.

The call was then transferred to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Harrington allegedly repeated that he had murdered Baratto with a knife.

Deputies responded to the residence and found Baratto covered in blood with multiple stab wounds, the affidavit states. A knife was reportedly located near her body.

Paramedics also treated Harrington for a cut on his left arm. During the medical response, he allegedly told them, “I killed my mom,” according to the document.

Harrington later spoke with investigators at the sheriff’s office headquarters. He reportedly said he did not recognize his own voice during the initial calls to police.

He again said he had killed his mother but told detectives he could not remember what kind of knife he had used.

Harrington also allegedly shifted back and forth between identifying himself and denying that he was the shirtless man captured on video pacing along a sidewalk near the Delray Beach home.

During questioning, Harrington told detectives he had been sober since 2007. He also said he had schizoaffective disorder with bipolar features.

In a Facebook video posted one day before Baratto’s fatal stabbing, Harrington spoke about the importance of forgiveness.

“I wrote down everyone that ever hurt me, and I forgave them all,” Harrington said. “You have to open your heart to forgive. You can’t just say ‘I’m a forgiving person,’ because that does nothing, you have to bring in the emotions up.”

Authorities have not publicly identified a motive in the killing.

Harrington was ordered held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 11.
