Dancing With the Stars’ Maura Higgins Explains Why She Won’t Advise the New Traitors Cast
Every Traitor and Faithful has to find their own way through the game.
That’s why, despite the newly announced cast for the upcoming season of The Traitors, Dancing With the Stars partners—and former Faithfuls—Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas aren’t hurrying to offer the incoming celebrity players a strategy guide for surviving the castle.
“I’ll tell you what, it really is hard to give Traitors advice,” Mark told E! News after DWTS on Sept. 30. Even though he has watched nearly every season, he explained, success depends heavily on the personalities in each group.

After all, there’s no step-by-step lesson for betraying an ally—or knowing exactly when that betrayal will backfire.
“Like with this show,” he said of DWTS, “you can be like, ‘When you get Quickstep, you gotta do this.’ You don’t know how people are going to react or what the conversation is going to be like. You don’t know what the round table is going to be like—and it can flip on you at any moment.”
Maura agreed, pointing out that players also have no idea whether they’ll enter the game as a Traitor or a Faithful. “You also don’t know if you’re going to be a Traitor or Faithful, and then you have to play differently,” she said. “It’s so hard.”
