Porsha Williams has disclosed how much she earned during her first season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, revealing the figure during a podcast appearance Thursday.

While discussing the fact that many Housewives spend more than they earn, Porsha also highlighted the career benefits of appearing on Bravo. She addressed Shamea Morton’s comparison of their friendship’s end to a divorce and appeared to question both Shamea’s authenticity and her storyline. Porsha, 45, confirmed that her season-five salary was below six figures.

“My first housewife check was around maybe like—it was nowhere near $100,000. It was like, maybe $60,000-something,” Porsha said during the October 1 episode of Monét Talks with Monét X Change.

She added that she used the entire paycheck to fund a party for the women on the show.

“Most housewives in the beginning are spending more money than they are making,” Porsha explained.

Even so, Porsha said she remains grateful for the platform Bravo provided, crediting the show with helping her develop her personal brand.

“I think it’s crazy from the outside looking in. I think the fact that I was building a brand and the opportunity to build it on this platform was the bigger payoff,” she said. At the time, Porsha explained, she was married and financially established, so she did not necessarily need the check. “But this was a great way to have something for me,” she added. “So that’s what made me continue to do it, and then once I got a divorce, I was like, I need that little check.”

Turning to Shamea, Porsha suggested that her former friend may be overstating how upset she remains about their fallout. Their conflict escalated during season 17 after Shamea accused Porsha’s mother, Diane Williams, of attempting to sleep with her father. Porsha responded by claiming that Shamea’s mother, Sarah Morton, had slept with her father’s brother.

“Nobody really realizes how long ago we stopped being friends,” Porsha said. “Last year’s reunion was almost two years ago and the show was filmed almost a year before that. It’s been three years.” She questioned how genuine Shamea’s ongoing focus on the situation was, adding that she personally viewed their relationship as strictly professional. “When I’m on set with people who I may not mesh with and people who I don’t f*ck with, it’s just, I’m on set with a co-worker. That’s all.”

Porsha said she believed Shamea might be keeping the possibility of reconciliation alive because of the potential paycheck.

“This is a job. You have to have what you call storylines,” she said. “As soon as the cameras start rolling, my real life begins, and they follow it, and that’s interesting enough. Some people, when the cameras start rolling, there may not be that much to show, so then they just kind of grab at something, and I think that this was something that you could grab on and you could talk about.”

“I just hope this is the last year of it. I really do,” Porsha continued. “I want next year for each lady who’s gonna remain on the show to flourish within their own. Come on. That’s what people want to see.”

Porsha also said she wants every cast member to build a strong fan base, arguing that the entire series benefits when each Housewife succeeds.

“At the end of the day, I’m a businesswoman, and if we’re talking about business and the show of it all, I want each girl to be successful,” she said. Porsha explained that she tried to avoid becoming the center of her co-stars’ storylines during the latest season, although she ultimately remained a major focus. “The fans get worn down by the same talk,” she added.
