Gypsy-Rose Blanchard Visits Ken Urker’s Casket With Their Daughter

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard visited the casket of her former fiancé, Ken Urker, alongside their 21-month-old daughter, Aurora Raina, just days after he was found dead on his 34th birthday.

Blanchard, 35, attended a private viewing at a Louisiana funeral home on Saturday. Her relationship with Urker began while she was serving a seven-year prison sentence for her role in the killing of her abusive mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

Family sources told TMZ that Blanchard wore a black dress and a necklace Urker had given her to mark their second anniversary.

In an especially emotional moment, Aurora reportedly recognized her father and said, “Daddy.” Blanchard was also allowed private time at the funeral home to mourn and say goodbye to Urker.

Urker’s mother, Raina, along with his brother and two sisters, were also present for the intimate viewing.

His sister Autumn was absent, although sources said she was in Louisiana at the time. Her absence follows comments she made to the Daily Mail, in which she claimed Urker told her during their final phone call that he was “terrified” Blanchard would not keep Aurora “safe.” She also said he felt Blanchard had “humiliated him.”

The following day, Blanchard joined members of Urker’s family for lunch at IHOP. The group reportedly spent the meal remembering and sharing stories about him.

Urker’s relatives also made arrangements for one of his siblings to take care of his dog, Parker.

Details about Blanchard’s final text exchanges with Urker emerged Monday, revealing that their conversations centered on their daughter, Aurora. The former couple welcomed her on December 28, 2024.

A source close to the former couple told Page Six that in the weeks prior to his death their texts were ‘normal’ and ‘basically all about Aurora’ and how they would co-parent.

“She was talking more like a friend, kind of—on a co-parent level,” a source said. “So it was like, ‘Hey, how’s your day going? Cool.’”

The source said Blanchard intentionally kept the messages free of flirtation because she knew Urker was dealing with mental-health struggles and wanted to give him room to recover. That was despite her reported hope that they might eventually reconcile.

“Once Gypsy accepted that the relationship was over, she stopped sending messages with that kind of romantic energy,” the insider claimed.

Police reportedly found Urker’s body at his Louisiana home last Thursday. Authorities said syringes, a spoon, a holstered handgun and a “brown powdery substance” were located nearby.

Blanchard shared a message on her Instagram Story Monday thanking friends, relatives and followers for their condolences

On Monday, Blanchard used her Instagram Story to express gratitude to the friends, family members and followers who had reached out with messages of sympathy.

She wrote: ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with love, prayers, and condolences.’

‘I’m sorry I can’t respond to every message, but please know I see them and I’m so grateful.’

Five months ago she excitedly detailed her dream wedding to her on-off fiance Urker.

Nearly half a year before the tragedy unfolded, Blanchard spoke chirpily about their plans for the future in May.

‘I don’t want to have a quickie wedding. I want to have the big wedding,’ she said when she was asked about possibly eloping, via TMZ.

‘I want to have the poofy dress, I want to have the family there, because my first marriage, I got married in the visitation room by the bathroom of a prison,’ she added, laughing as she said: ‘I deserve my wedding.’

Blanchard began corresponding with Urker in jail in 2017 after he watched an HBO documentary about her and decided to get in touch.

Urker proposed in 2018 only for them to split months later, after which she married special education teacher Ryan Anderson in prison.

Blanchard was granted early parole and released in December 2023, and as a free woman she divorced Anderson and reunited with Urker in 2024.

In the immediate aftermath of Urker’s death this Thursday, Blanchard publicly expressed the belief he had succumbed to an overdose.

‘I don’t know if it was intentional or not. He was not in a good state of mind lately,’ she said. ‘I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.’

Blanchard has further claimed Urker was ‘relentlessly cyberbullied’ before his untimely passing, in a statement provided Thursday to TMZ.

She noted that she texted him on the day of his death to wish him a happy birthday but never received a reply.

‘Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved,’ she began, adding that Urker would ‘forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.’

Blanchard said that he went through an ‘unimaginable level of public scrutiny’ while being with her and that the ‘cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.’

She noted that the online harassment had a ‘profound impact’ on Urker.

Regarding their infant daughter Aurora, Blanchard vowed to ‘make sure she grows up knowing how deeply her father loved her.’

Blanchard said that she would also ensure her daughter knew ‘who [Urker] was beyond what strangers on the internet chose to say about him.’

In a statement to TMZ, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office said: ‘We responded to a residence in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6.15pm. Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival. At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.’

Family sources told the publication that Urker was discovered at home by Blanchard’s brother, Dylan.

According to People, Dylan and his wife had planned to go out to dinner with Urker before they arrived at his home.

They added that the tragic news had left both Blanchard and Urker’s families in shock.

Urker’s sister, Autumn, reportedly confirmed his death on Thursday night after going live on TikTok.

She said her brother’s last words to her had been, ‘I love you.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Blanchard’s representatives and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for comment.

Aurora’s birth coincided with the one-year anniversary of Blanchard’s release from prison after she served seven years behind bars for her part in the murder of her abusive mother Dee Dee.

Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and spent seven years in prison before being released in December 2023 after being granted an early parole.

While in prison, she bonded with Urker after he sent her a letter, and they started corresponding.

Things soon turned romantic, and he went on to propose in 2018.

But after the Hulu miniseries The Act – which starred Joey King as Gypsy and Patricia Arquette as her mother – premiered a few months later and put an intense spotlight on Gypsy’s story, she admitted in her memoir that Ken couldn’t handle the sudden wave of attention.

After announcing her split from her husband Anderson, in March 2024, Blanchard revealed in July of that year that she and her reunited fiance Urker were expecting a child.

Following their reunion, Urker looked back on how they reconnected while speaking to People.

‘The very first weekend of April [2024] is when I came to visit her for the first time after she had gotten out. We spent that weekend together and had an incredible time,’ he said.

Their renewed connection was strong enough that they made plans to meet again a month later to attend a jazz festival together.

‘Then shortly after that, we realized we were going to have a baby,’ Urker added.
