Dad Vanishes on Trip With Friend to Browns Game; Police Concerned

A Maryland father who traveled to Cleveland to see his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers face the Browns vanished just hours after the game, prompting a desperate search by his family.

Phoenix Phillips, 24, was last seen around 6 a.m. Friday in downtown Cleveland, according to a missing-person alert issued by the Cleveland Division of Police.

Authorities said Phillips may be on foot and described the circumstances of his disappearance as “concerning.”

Phillips is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds. Police said he has blue eyes and was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, beige pants and white tennis shoes.

News Media has contacted the Cleveland Division of Police for more information about Phillips’ disappearance.

Phillips, who has a 2-year-old son, lives in the Baltimore area and came to Cleveland with a friend for Thursday night’s Steelers-Browns game, Cleveland Missing co-founder Sylvia Colon told News Media.

Phillips was separated from the friend accompanying him before he disappeared, Cleveland police spokesperson Sgt. Freddy Diaz told ABC affiliate WEWS.

“He’s from out of state, so he was in town visiting and at some point kind of got separated from the person he was with,” Diaz said. “After that, you know, we’re still trying to determine what actually happened.”

Detectives are canvassing the area where Phillips was last seen, reviewing surveillance footage and pursuing tips that could help establish where he went, Diaz told the station.

Phillips’ relatives have traveled to Cleveland and are helping with the search, Colon told News Media.

Colon said she planned to meet with the family in person Tuesday while Cleveland Missing works to support them during the investigation.

The organization is supplying fliers for the family to distribute throughout the area and acting as a liaison with law enforcement as officials assess what additional support may be needed.

Anyone who has information about Phillips’ whereabouts is urged to contact Cleveland police.
