A Delta Air Lines passenger jet collided Tuesday with an Air Canada aircraft that was being towed to its gate shortly after landing at Los Angeles International Airport, the airlines said.
Delta Flight 7, which was scheduled to depart for Tokyo with 275 passengers and 15 crew members aboard, struck the Air Canada jet with its left wingtip, a Delta spokesperson told News Media. No injuries were initially reported.
“While taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport, a Delta aircraft made contact with an Air Canada aircraft,” Delta said in a statement. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience and delay in their travel.”

Air Canada Flight AC785 had recently arrived in Los Angeles from Toronto when it was being towed to its gate, the airline told News Media.
“An aircraft operated by another airline made contact with its tail,” Air Canada said. “There are no reported injuries. The Air Canada aircraft will be taken out of service for inspection and repairs.”

A video posted online by TMZ appeared to show a visible gash on one of the Air Canada aircraft’s wings.
No injuries were reported, the airline said. Delta maintenance crews and airport teams were examining the Airbus A350-900, while the airline worked to accommodate passengers and assess its “recovery options.”
Delta said it would cooperate with the National Transportation Safety Board, which will investigate the incident.
In March, a regional Air Canada plane collided with a Port Authority airport vehicle at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport. The crash destroyed the aircraft’s front section, killed two pilots and injured dozens of people.
