Maryland Man Accused of Girl’s Fatal Shooting Released Days Before

A Maryland man accused of killing a 12-year-old girl during a shooting near a youth football game had been released from prison just eight days earlier.

Tyree Reynolds, 23, left state custody on Sept. 25, according to Fox 45 News, which cited the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (MDPSCS).

Reynolds is facing 30 criminal charges, including murder and attempted murder, after Saturday’s shooting at a youth football homecoming game at Baltimore’s Leon Day Park.

Reynolds waived his bond hearing during a court appearance Wednesday. He attended the proceeding by video from a wheelchair, with his leg in a cast.

Authorities said surveillance video shows Reynolds firing at two men in a parking lot next to the football field during an argument over a parking space. Investigators allege that he pulled a short-barreled rifle from a backpack and began shooting.

One of the men fired back and struck Reynolds in the ankle. Reynolds allegedly then shot toward the football field, hitting 12-year-old Khloe Ishway and three other people.

Ishway later died from her injuries.

“Khloe was just 12 years old. She should have a whole life ahead of her: school, a career, time spent with family and friends. Instead, she was killed because two adult men resorted to deadly violence to resolve an argument over a parking spot,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said.

“Our hearts remain with Khloe’s mother, her family and friends, and our entire community, and we are committed to getting justice on their behalf,” he added.

Reynolds was on probation when the shooting occurred after recently completing a prison sentence tied to a previous shooting.

“The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is heartbroken by the tragic death of 12-year-old Khloe Ishway and the injuries to innocent bystanders,” the agency said in a statement. “Tyree Reynolds was previously sentenced to 15 years of incarceration, with all but five years suspended by a judge. Reynolds served the entirety of that five-year term, day for day, and was released on September 25, 2026.”

Reynolds was arrested three times in 2021. He was first taken into custody in February on a handgun possession charge and was granted pretrial release.

Before he was sentenced in that case, Reynolds was arrested again in connection with a March 2021 assault and later in connection with a July 2021 shooting that was never prosecuted, according to Fox 45 News.

He ultimately pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of first-degree assault as well as a firearms violation. The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison followed by three years of probation.

A judge suspended all but five years of that sentence, and Reynolds served the full five-year term before being released in September.
