A U.S. Marine Corps aircraft carrying four service members caught fire Thursday after making a hard landing during a training mission in North Carolina.
The MV-22B Osprey, assigned to Marine Corps Air Station New River, came down near Bladen Lakes State Forest.

The four people aboard were taken for medical evaluation, the Marine Corps said in a statement provided to Fox News. White Lake Fire Chief Dale Brennan told WECT that at least one Marine sustained burns and was transported to a nearby clinic.
Civilian and military emergency responders both rushed to the site.

The hard landing occurred as scheduled training exercises were underway at MCAS New River this week. Before the exercises began, neighboring Camp Lejeune warned residents to prepare for heavier traffic, heightened security measures and increased emergency response activity.

Officials have not yet determined what caused the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
