Trump Again Promises $5,000 for Every American if Republicans Win the Midterms

During a visit to Alaska aimed at helping incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan secure another term, Donald Trump renewed his pledge to send $5,000 to every adult American—while attaching a condition to the proposed payment.

Speaking Tuesday night, Trump said he would provide $5,000 to “all adult citizens in the United States” if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress after November’s elections.

“You gotta spend it in the United States of America,” the president said. “I don’t want you going to China.”

Trump first unveiled the idea, which he has dubbed the “Trump Dividend,” at events including the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas in early September.

The sweeping proposal has caught some of Trump’s most loyal supporters off guard.

Joe Lonsdale, the Palantir co-founder and Republican donor, responded to Trump’s Dallas announcement by writing: “For the record, I am hugely in favor of winning the midterms, and love much about this admin, but am strongly against bread and circus bribes.”

Several other financial promises Trump made during his second term have yet to become reality. However, he did follow through on his “warrior dividend,” issuing $1,776 payments to 1.4 million military officials in December 2025.

Trump’s address to Alaskans was briefly disrupted earlier in the evening when a heckler was removed by security personnel.

The president appeared pleased by the intervention, praising the “good law enforcement” before declaring: “They just knocked the hell out of him.”

Trump also repeated a familiar punchline about rally protesters, telling the crowd that the heckler’s “mother and father voted for me.” The remark drew loud applause. He used the same line Monday night in Ohio after police manhandled several protesters at his rally.

Democrat and Alaska Native Mary Peltola has proven tough competition for the re-election bid of incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan. At his Alaska rally, Trump described her as a 'nut job'

Democrat and Alaska Native Mary Peltola has emerged as a formidable challenger to incumbent Senator Dan Sullivan. At the rally, Trump dismissed her as a “nut job”

Trump later turned his attention to Sullivan’s Democratic challenger, Alaska congresswoman Mary Peltola.

He called Peltola, who is Alaska Native, a “nut job” and accused her of being known as “No-Show Mary” because he claimed she failed to attend meetings in Washington, DC.

Trump urged Alaskans to “pretend I’m on the ballot,” underscoring the purpose of his trip roughly 50 miles north of Anchorage: helping Sullivan withstand Peltola’s aggressive challenge.

Democrats have not won an Alaska Senate seat in nearly 12 years, but Trump’s appearance highlighted the growing competitiveness of Sullivan’s race.

The visit followed a trip to Alaska last week by JD Vance, who warned that Democrats would “do whatever they need to do, right up to cheating,” to prevail in the midterms.

The Cook Report currently classifies the contest as a toss-up, while several polls show Peltola holding a narrow lead over the two-term Republican incumbent.

Peltola announced Tuesday that her campaign collected $17 million during the third quarter, setting a record for third-quarter fundraising by an Alaska US Senate candidate.

In 2022, she became the first Indigenous person from the state to be elected to Congress.

Ahead of the presidential visit, Peltola’s press secretary Caroline Etgen told the Daily Mail that the Democrat is offering Trump the olive branch.

Should politicians offer cash promises to win votes or focus on long-term solutions for Americans?

‘She looks forward to working with President Trump to unleash Alaska energy and lower costs for when she’s elected,’ Etgen said.

‘It doesn’t matter who flies in to try and save Dan Sullivan from his abhorrent record, Alaskans will still hold him accountable for his price-hiking agenda this November.’

Peltola’s team further emphasized that she is ‘one of the most independent Democrats in Congress, regularly standing up to her own party’ and ‘working with Republicans to pass pro-energy legislation.’

Peltola was the only Democrat to join the ‘pro-fossil fuel’ Congressional Western Caucus in Congress, Politico reported. The Alaska Native also owns 176 long guns and is a strong second amendment advocate.

The current Senate race has seen rising living costs, diesel and fuel prices exacerbated by the Iran war, and fisheries as top issues for Alaskan voters.

Alaska gas prices have hit an average of $5.02, compared to $3.87 one year ago.

The Tuesday rally marked the president’s first official visit during his current term, aside from a summit with Vladimir Putin last August. He has made only three trips to the Last Frontier overall.

In September, Trump announced $54 billion South Korean investment to construct a new natural gas pipeline in Alaska. After the announcement, a South Korean official said the move ‘had not been finalized.’

On Tuesday night, he also announced that Taiwan committed to buying 30 percent of Alaska’s new liquified natural gas pipeline ‘for the next 20 years.’ Other terms of the deal remained unclear while he insisted the investment ‘guarantees success.’

Trump plans to visit Arizona and Montana on Wednesday.
