Paulina Porizkova said she began to feel “invisible” to men when she turned 58.
Returning to the dating scene in her 50s came as a major shock, she admitted, after decades as one of the modeling industry’s most recognizable stars and years spent in a long-term marriage.
The 61-year-old supermodel recently reflected on life after divorce and the challenges of dating later in life. She eventually found love again with television writer Jeff Greenstein, 62, whom she now calls her husband.
Porizkova said she felt increasingly “overlooked” after turning 58. Her experience changed when she connected with Greenstein on the dating app Raya. After dating for three years, the couple married in July.
“I was on Raya for five years, and I got, I got maybe four hits in five years. Older women are f***ing invisible on Raya,” she told People on Saturday.
She said that sense of invisibility extended beyond dating apps and affected her attempts to meet potential partners in person.
Paulina Porizkova said she felt she became “invisible” to men at 58.
She described returning to dating in her 50s as a shock after decades as a leading model and years in a long-term marriage.
“If you want to find somebody, and you go out to events to meet people, if you are in your late 50s going out to parties, going to a bar, you’re going to totally get overlooked,” she said.
“I know people don’t believe me. They’re like, ‘Oh, you’re Paulina Porizkova, how is that possible?’”
“Well, you should just shadow me at a party and see how guys my age will just walk away and follow the 30-year-old to buy her a drink instead,” she continued.
Porizkova also discussed re-entering the dating pool after separating from The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who died in 2019 before their divorce was finalized.
“It was shocking to me, because [after the split], I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll do a lot of dating.’ And then I was like, ‘Wait, but with who?’” she recalled.
“Because when I was dating before I met my husband, I was an extremely popular date,” she said.

“So going from being the hottest girl in town to being an invisible 58-year-old was really shocking,” Porizkova added.

Before meeting Greenstein, she said she received only four matches during five years on Raya, describing older women as “f***ing invisible” on dating apps; pictured in January 2023.
Porizkova said she also felt overlooked at social events, where she observed men often gravitating toward women decades younger than themselves.
She described the experience as “really shocking” after spending decades at the height of the modeling world.
She eventually met her husband on Raya, and the two quickly connected. The couple married in July; pictured in January.
She eventually encountered her now-husband on the dating app and immediately hit it off.
‘All we did was talk, and then FaceTime, and then have tea on FaceTime, which turned to wine on FaceTime, which turned into tequila on FaceTime,’ Porizkova recalled in an interview with People in July.
After two years of dating, Greestein, who wrote for shows like Will & Grace, proposed to the Czech-born model.
‘She’s the best-read person in the world,’ Greestein said about his wife.
He also said his bride is ‘so quick-witted’ and ‘so insightful.’
‘I wasn’t prepared for it. I had no idea the depths of her intelligence,’ he continued.
‘She cares about family, about social justice, she speaks four languages,’ he added. ‘And she’s sexy as hell.’
