Slow Horses viewers know the routine: finish bingeing the latest season of Apple TV’s acclaimed spy thriller, then start counting the days until the next one. That familiar cycle is continuing now that Slow Horses Season 6 has reached its finale.
The series has developed a reputation for moving quickly from one season to the next. Apple TV often renews the show early, and production progresses fast enough for the finale to include a preview of what’s coming. As the credits roll on Season 6, Episode 6, “Judgment Day,” fans will be treated to their first glimpse of Season 7.
Drawing from Books 6 and 7 of Mick Herron’s Slough House novels, Season 6 followed the agency’s famously dysfunctional MI5 operatives as they became targets of assassins. The dangerous mission came at a heavy cost, with not everyone surviving. Without spoiling the finale, the season ends on a tense and potentially fatal cliffhanger—yet the preview for Season 7 offers plenty of reason to keep watching.
When will Slow Horses Season 7 premiere? Which Mick Herron book will serve as its source material? How many novels are in the Slough House series, and could Season 8 eventually happen? Here’s a complete guide to the future of Slow Horses, including the expected Season 7 release window, details about Bad Actors, the clues hidden in the Season 6 finale teaser, and more.

How Many Episodes Will Be In Slow Horses Season 7?

What Will Slow Horses Season 7 Be About? And Which Mick Herron Book Will Slow Horses Season 7 Adapt?
According to Apple TV’s official announcement, “In season seven, Lamb and his Slow Horses are on the hunt to find and neutralize a mole at the heart of the British Government before they can bring down the state. Season 7 is adapted from the Bad Actors novel in Mick Herron’s Slough House book series.”
The Season 6 finale preview provides a few more clues about the next chapter. In the teaser, Standish asks Lamb whether he has heard from River. Lamb answers with typically grim humor: “Yeah, funny enough, I got a postcard. ‘Weather’s lovely in the afterlife. Sunsets to die for. Love and hugs.’”
Taverner then reveals that Vassily Rasnikov, head of the GRU, has entered the United Kingdom without warning. That news suggests the Season 6 conflict remains unresolved. Lamb points out that Rasnikov sent a hit squad after four of his agents, making it clear that the two sides still have unfinished business.
Season 7 will also put Taverner directly into the action. Lamb tells her that pursuing her target “takes some fucking balls,” while she promises to take Sparrow down—and even gives a drone the finger during the chaos. She also appears to sprint in heels, proving once again that Diana Taverner is not staying behind a desk. Elsewhere, Shirley appears to smash an iron into a bus windshield before Lamb tells her she is headed to rehab to address her “impulse control issues.”
The preview then cuts to helicopters, boats and a growing sense of crisis. Lamb wants to know how long Rasnikov has been in the country and what he has been planning. Another character senses that something major is about to happen, while Louisa warns that the potential death toll could reach the thousands.
As expected from Slow Horses, the new season promises plenty of brawls, gunfire, reckless driving and profanity. Lamb accuses someone off-screen of being a spy, Roddy is held at gunpoint, and one person is struck by a car. A warning about an impending reckoning adds to the tension, while Lamb somehow still finds time to eat in his famously untidy fashion. Here’s what else viewers should know about Bad Actors.
