Leaked texts linked to Jane Doe in Cornell fraternity probe
Newly disclosed messages are bringing renewed attention to a sexual assault investigation involving a fraternity at Cornell University, while Fox News correspondent Bryan Llenas reports additional developments. The disclosure comes as students continue demonstrations on the Ithaca, New York, campus, demanding accountability and justice.
Police in North Carolina arrested a 19-year-old man accused of secretly recording a sexual encounter with a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student and sharing the video in a fraternity group chat.
Authorities allege that Alexander Michael Evanoff used his cellphone on Sept. 19 to record sexually explicit footage while he and the woman were having sex, then distributed the video without her permission. He faces one count of disclosing private images and two felony counts of secret peeping.
Investigators say Evanoff later sent the recording to a Sigma Alpha Epsilon group chat that included 32 members.

According to an affidavit, Evanoff told investigators that he intentionally recorded the encounter and sent the video to the fraternity group chat.
He also allegedly acknowledged that he did not ask for or receive the woman’s consent to record or distribute the footage.

The woman later confronted Evanoff and asked whether he had shared the recording in the fraternity chat to make himself “appear cool.” The affidavit states that he said yes and apologized.
Court and jail records indicate that Evanoff was arrested Monday and released the next day after posting $10,000 bond.

A University of North Carolina at Charlotte spokesperson told WSOC that Evanoff is not enrolled at the university.
“The individual who has been charged is not currently enrolled at the University. The alleged conduct in this case, if true, is reprehensible. It is not what we expect or will tolerate from members of our campus community,” the spokesperson said.
