Strong Winds and Rough Surf Return to Central Florida This Weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida is bracing for a notably blustery weekend as sustained winds climb to 20–30 mph. Persistent onshore flow could create rough surf, dangerous rip currents, coastal flooding and beach erosion.

This Week

Gusty northeast winds of 20–25 mph are expected today, with a slight increase in strength by Friday. Afternoon temperatures should hold in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Weekend

Rain chances will rise Saturday, reaching 20% to 30%, and could remain elevated into early next week as additional moisture spreads across the area.

The wind threat will intensify as well. Northeast winds are forecast to remain at 20–30 mph from Saturday through Monday, with stronger gusts of 35–40 mph possible. Wind Advisories may be issued, particularly along the coast, while breezy conditions could linger into Tuesday.

Temperatures are expected to stay fairly steady, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to the low 80s.

Strong winds blowing in from the Atlantic will keep overnight temperatures mild. Lows should generally settle in the 60s inland and the upper 60s to lower 70s near the coast.

Coastal Hazards

The combination of powerful onshore winds and high tides is expected to produce another stretch of hazardous beach conditions this weekend and into early next week.

Beachgoers should be prepared for rough surf, dangerous rip currents, erosion and the possibility of minor coastal flooding.
