LSU Student Allegedly Raped in Gunpoint Attack Inside Freshman Residence Hall, Police Say

A first-year Louisiana State University student told police she was allegedly lured to a study room in a campus residence hall and raped at gunpoint, according to LSU police documents.

Ronald White, 21, was arrested on felony rape and firearms-related charges after authorities responded to a reported sexual assault at Spruce Hall around 11:15 p.m. Friday, an arrest warrant obtained by The Post states. The Baton Rouge dorm houses approximately 400 freshman students.

White is not enrolled at LSU.

According to the warrant, the unidentified student had gone to Spruce Hall earlier that evening to visit a friend. At some point, the friend invited a male acquaintance to the room, documents say.

That man reportedly arrived with White, who is from New Orleans.

Shortly afterward, White allegedly asked the student to accompany him to a fourth-floor study room, saying it would give the other two people privacy, according to her account to police.

The situation allegedly became violent once they entered the room. Police documents say White pulled a black handgun from his waistband and forced the student to perform oral sex despite her repeatedly telling him to stop.

Afterward, White allegedly instructed her to get a paper towel. Instead, she went to the lobby and asked someone to call campus police, the warrant states.

When officers arrived, White allegedly disregarded multiple commands to stop and ran from the building. Police later found him hiding beneath a car near a nearby intersection, according to the documents.

Officers reportedly recovered about seven grams of marijuana from White, but no firearm was found. Investigators said the alleged gun had not been located when the warrant was submitted Monday.

After his arrest, White told investigators that the student had touched him “voluntarily” and maintained that the sexual contact was consensual, according to court records.

White was booked on allegations including first-degree rape, resisting an officer, drug possession and carrying a firearm on school property over the weekend.

He was expected to appear before a judge Monday afternoon. Details about the hearing were not immediately available.

White had also been arrested in October 2024 after allegedly threatening to kill a Wendy’s employee with a gun on the LSU campus. That investigation was later marked “suspended” after the alleged victim stopped cooperating, records show.

By Monday, residents of Spruce Hall told local station WAFB they were stunned by the reported assault and said they had not received an alert from university officials.

“I’m really concerned, that would be horrifying,” one female student told the outlet. She said she wished LSU officials would publicly acknowledge the incident and explain what steps were being taken to support the student and address accountability.

“Or, I guess you can’t fix that anymore, but things to help the girl and make sure accountability is taken,” she added.

“I was expecting an alert if something like that happened,” a male student told WAFB.

“I just can’t believe it happened in the dorm building I’m living in.”
