Sir Tom Jones Falls Ill on Tour and Cancels Live Shows

Music legend Sir Tom Jones has fallen ill while on tour, forcing the 86-year-old Welsh singer to reschedule upcoming performances on medical advice.

Sir Tom is currently performing the US leg of his Come Gather Round Tour and has completed 20 shows across America. However, he apologised to fans on Instagram after unexpectedly coming down with a bad case of flu. His doctors advised him not to perform, although his three remaining shows in California have not been changed.

Writing on social media, Tom Jones said: “I’ve had a great time these last few weeks, completing 20 shows and singing for wonderful audiences across the USA, but unexpectedly I’ve been hit with a bad case of the flu. Following doctor’s advice, I unfortunately have to reschedule tonight’s show in Los Angeles and tomorrow’s show in San Diego.

“I’ve had news that these shows will now be re-scheduled as follows: The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, San Diego, on Tuesday November 3rd and The Greek Theatre, Los Angeles, on Wednesday November 4th. I’m truly sorry for any inconvenience caused. I look forward to seeing you all soon.”

Fans expressed their concern in the comments, with one writing: “So sorry to hear this, Sir Tom. Wishing you a very speedy recovery. Take care of yourself, get plenty of rest. Your health is the most important thing. God bless you, we all love you.”

Another fan said: “We just seen you at The Wynn in Las Vegas on Saturday. You were absolutely amazing. I pray for a speedy recovery! We love you.”

A third commenter added: “Was a wonderful show Saturday evening, Tom. So sorry you are under the weather. You’ve had an amazing tour these last few months. Please take a week and get well, your Golden Voice needs to be protected. I hope you feel better soon and I look forward to your next Las Vegas visit.”

Tickets bought for the original performances will remain valid for the rescheduled dates. Fans who cannot attend are advised to contact their original point of purchase to request a full refund.

The rescheduled shows come weeks after the Treforest-born singer was dropped from the judging panel of ITV’s The Voice. It was previously confirmed that the Welsh star would not return to the programme after 13 years, a decision he said was not his own.
