Kim Kardashian Recalls Father Robert Sr.’s Final Words Before Death

Kim Kardashian has opened up about an emotional final conversation with her father, Robert Kardashian Sr., recalling how the late attorney seemed certain she would build a successful life before his death from cancer in 2003.

“The last thing my dad ever said to me was, ‘I know you’re going to be good — I can see it,’” the SKIMS founder told author Jonathan Van Meter for his new biography, “Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future,” according to People.

Kim said her father went on to tell her, “It’s as if I can see what your whole life is going to be like.” However, she recalled that Robert Sr. offered little further explanation because he was drifting in and out of consciousness.

Now 46, Kim remembered spending one of her final moments with Robert Sr., who was 59 at the time, watching a movie together shortly before his death.

“He put his hand on my leg,” she recalled. “I’ll never forget it.” Kim said she was lying beside him on an L-shaped couch, with the two of them squeezed closely together.

Her father then reassured her, saying, “You’ll be fine. But take care of the other ones. And make sure your brother’s good.” Kim was referring to her sisters, Kourtney Kardashian, now 47, and Khloé Kardashian, now 42, as well as her younger brother, Robert Kardashian Jr., now 39.

Kim also shared what she said to Robert Sr. during his final days, when he was bedridden and no longer able to communicate.

“I knew his vitals were almost gone,” she said. Kim told her father, “Dad, thank you so much for everything that you’ve taught me, from how to be a good person, to how you did my homework with me, everything I’m going to do with my kids one day.”

She added, “I’m going to take the lesson of you being in my life and carry that forward.”

Robert Sr. died on Sept. 30 after battling esophageal cancer.

The attorney was the father of Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Robert Jr., whom he welcomed with his former wife, Kris Jenner. The couple married in 1978 and divorced in 1991.

Their marriage ended after Kris had an affair with professional soccer player Todd Waterman, a decision she has since described as one of her deepest regrets.

“I think that I fell into a situation where I thought that the grass was greener somewhere else,” Kris said during a 2023 episode of “The Kardashians.” “I made a huge mistake. That’s my life’s biggest regret.”

Robert Sr. later married Jan Ashley in 1998, though their marriage ended the following year. In the year of his death, he married Ellen Pierson.

Kris married Caitlyn Jenner the same year she and Robert Sr. divorced. Kris and Caitlyn later separated in 2015 after welcoming daughters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner.
