Kacey Montoya is returning to television, joining rival station FOX 11 just months after leaving KTLA amid corporate layoffs.
The well-known Los Angeles weathercaster appeared on FOX 11 Thursday evening, marking her first time on air in six months.
In an Instagram Reel, Montoya gave viewers a glimpse inside her new newsroom as she prepared weather maps and practiced for an upcoming segment.
“This is the first that I’ve been on air in six months since we worked at the other place.”
Montoya had previewed the move in a message to her followers, writing: “You can see me back on TV this Thursday evening on @foxla.”
She also teased Southern California’s Halloween weather forecast, posting maps from Tuesday evening and asking viewers whether rain might put a damper on the holiday.
The announcement was met with enthusiastic support from colleagues at both stations. KTLA meteorologist Vera Jimenez commented, “Yay! So glad your back on!!”
FOX 11 anchor Brooke Thomas also welcomed her new colleague, saying she was “Yay can’t wait for our first newscast together!”
Montoya left KTLA in April as part of corporate layoffs, rather than being individually fired.
Following her final broadcast, she devoted herself full time to Fix’n Fidos, her animal welfare nonprofit that helps fund spay and neuter services throughout Southern California.
