Nicki Minaj Blasts Gov. Kathy Hochul, Urges New York Voters to Back Bruce Blakeman for Governor

Nicki Minaj denounced Gov. Kathy Hochul as an “evil woman” and argued that the Democratic Party should distance itself from the New York governor as she backed Republican candidate Bruce Blakeman in Tuesday’s gubernatorial election.

“Kathy Hochul is an evil woman,” the Trinidadian-born, Queens-raised rapper wrote on X Tuesday. “The Democratic Party should forfeit her seat because even if she wins, she will be of great consequence to them. Downward spiral for her. She will not escape God’s wrath. She did not denounce evil when she had the chance.”

Minaj, whose legal name is Onika Maraj-Petty, criticized Hochul over earlier viral remarks in which the Democrat said that “black kids in the Bronx” did not know what computers were.

“HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU NEED TO SEE & HEAR FROM THEM?!! HOW DARE YOU AS BLACK PEOPLE VOTE FOR THIS VILE WICKED CURSE OF A WOMAN? HOW DARE YOU AS CHRISTIANS?! SHE STAYS SILENT ON HARM BEING CAUSED TO THE INNOCENT & THIS IS WHAT SHE THINKS OF YOUR CHILDREN! Vote BLAKEMAN!” Minaj wrote in a follow-up post.

Hochul made the offhand comment while speaking at a forum during the Milken Institute Global Conference in May 2024.

“Right now we have, you know, young black kids growing up in the Bronx who don’t even know what the word computer is,” Hochul said. “They don’t know, they don’t know these things. And I want the world opened up to all of them.”

Blakeman attacked Hochul over the remark during their only gubernatorial debate earlier this month, after the incumbent governor accused the Nassau County executive of associating with white supremacists.

“I never went around with white supremacists; I’m offended by that. Let’s talk about your record,” Blakeman said. “What did you see about black kids in the Bronx? You know what? That was reprehensible.”

Hochul, who held a double-digit lead over Blakeman in the final week before the election, responded to Minaj’s social media attack as the rapper continued campaigning for Republicans and candidates backed by President Trump.

“She oughta get outside,” Hochul told reporters at a Tuesday press conference, urging the rapper to “stop going to Trump rallies because it’s poisoning her.”

In recent months, Minaj has emerged as a prominent supporter of Republicans and has even joined Trump on the campaign trail.

In September, Minaj encouraged young voters to “vote red” in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Now is not the time to think that your voice will not be heard,” Minaj said during an appearance on “My View with Lara Trump.” “Your voice will not only be heard, but your voice is very necessary right now for the country and for the world. We need you guys involved.

“We need you guys involved more than ever before. This is your country, this is your world. You are the ones that have to reap the benefits of whatever vote decisions we make now.”
