Josh Jacobs Vows to “Roll With the Punches” Amid Battery Accusations

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has addressed what he called an “unfortunate” situation after fresh allegations of domestic battery emerged against him.

Jacobs has denied the latest accusations. Speaking to reporters in the Packers’ locker room Wednesday, he said he would “roll with the punches” while the ongoing process unfolds.

Jacobs was arrested after his then-girlfriend accused him of throwing her to the ground and damaging her phone during an alleged May 23 incident. After being charged in August, he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges.

Last week, the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department released investigative records containing similar allegations from three other women, relating to incidents alleged to have occurred several years ago.

The release prompted a strong response from Jacobs’ attorneys, who said the “character assassination” was unfairly putting his NFL career at risk.

The NFL’s investigation remains open, but Jacobs said he is not concerned about receiving another suspension after recently returning from a six-game absence.

Jacobs said he was relying on the statement issued by his lawyers and acknowledged that he could not control how others interpreted the allegations.

“Anything can be said and people are just going to run with it,” he said. “I can’t really change how you feel.”

He added that he knows his own account of events and described the situation as especially difficult because of his public position.

“It’s something else, and now it’s something else, and now it’s something else,” Jacobs said. “You’re just trying to deal with it, process it and let it be.”

Jacobs said there may eventually be an opportunity to present the facts, but added that he would “roll with the punches” if that moment did not come.

Asked whether he feared another NFL suspension, Jacobs replied: “No, not at all. With all the evidence we have and they have, I’m not sitting back wondering, ‘Am I going to play this week?’

“I kind of already know what it is, so it’s really just up to them to make their final decision. But I’m not worried about missing any more time than I already have.”

Jacobs’ lawyers said they possess a “substantial body of tangible evidence” that disputes the battery allegations made by several women.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, David Z Chesnoff, Richard A Schonfeld, and Clarence F Duchac III said the police file released last week included summaries of three telephone interviews about alleged incidents from 2021 and 2022.

The attorneys said the file consisted only of interviews conducted years after the alleged events and contained no meaningful follow-up investigation, aside from an acknowledgement that Jacobs had done nothing wrong.

They said Jacobs had not been given an opportunity to submit evidence in response because police took no action over what they described as unsupported and outdated accusations.

According to the lawyers, one of the three women also brought a claim to the NFL, which reviewed the matter and determined that no action was necessary. They said Jacobs retained evidence supporting his account and the league’s decision, but that the police file did not indicate the material had been requested or considered.

The detailed statement addressed each allegation separately, citing police records that the attorneys said contradicted or weakened one woman’s account.

The lawyers also argued that the allegations were old, based on hearsay and could be disproved, while criticizing police for releasing them without investigating whether they were accurate or supported by other evidence.

“Josh is answering them in detail because of the character assassination that is occurring, unfairly threatening his career,” they said.

In September, Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges. The resolution allowed him to avoid prison, while requiring him to pay a $1,000 fine and court costs.

If Jacobs completes a series of conditions over 12 months, the criminal damage charge can be dismissed.

The NFL is continuing to examine the May 23 incident, and it remains unclear whether the newly disclosed allegations will affect Jacobs’ status in the league. He remains active with the Packers, who are scheduled to play at New England on November 8.

“We will review these allegations as part of the investigation, which has remained open,” the NFL said in a statement.

The additional accusations involve alleged incidents with women who said Jacobs became abusive after they rejected his sexual advances while he was with the Las Vegas Raiders. Several also alleged that he took or damaged their phones, echoing the account made by his most recent accuser to Hobart-Lawrence police.

Jacobs has called himself “remorseful” over the May incident and said he regretted creating a distraction for his teammates. His attorneys declined further comment on October 16 but maintained that he had accepted responsibility for his actions.

The police records released last week contain a series of disturbing allegations concerning Jacobs.

One woman contacted Hobart-Lawrence police after Jacobs’ arrest and initially said she had a similar experience with him in 2023. She later amended her account, placing the alleged incident on January 5, 2022.

She said she spent 11 hours at Jacobs’ home before he allegedly became violent when she refused to have sex. According to her account, Jacobs slapped her, spat on her and threw her phone into a pool as she tried to leave. She further alleged that he grabbed her by the hair, threw her onto a bed and then the floor, and threatened to kill her.

The woman said she remained friends with Jacobs afterward and did not report the alleged incident because she feared she would not be believed. She told police that his May arrest prompted her to come forward because it made the episode appear part of a broader pattern.

Another allegation dates to April 2021, when Jacobs was a member of the Raiders.

That woman alleged Jacobs became aggressive during a sexual encounter after she told him a condom had broken. She said she told Jacobs they should both be tested for sexually transmitted infections because each had been involved with other partners.

She told officers that Jacobs then allegedly grabbed her arms, pushed her into a wall and forced her out of the residence, while also throwing out her belongings. Hobart-Lawrence police obtained records from the incident stating that she had no visible injuries.

In a separate account from the following year, another woman said she met Jacobs through social media and flew to his home. She alleged that he grabbed her hair, head and neck, dragged her, scratched her chest and took her phone after finding it on the floor.

All three newly reported allegations relate to Jacobs’ time with the Raiders. The three-time Pro Bowl running back joined the Packers in 2024, nearly two years before his arrest in Wisconsin.

Jacobs missed the opening six games of the season while the NFL investigated the domestic abuse allegations.

After scoring a touchdown Thursday at Lambeau Field, Jacobs clasped his hands behind his back in a gesture that appeared to mimic being handcuffed, months after his May arrest.

Jacobs later said the celebration was religious in nature and formed part of a routine inspired by the gospel song “Break Every Chain.” He said the sequence had been planned with teammate Savion Williams.

He also complained that the Amazon Prime Video broadcast failed to show the full celebration.
