Meet Woody Harrelson’s Three Daughters, Now All Grown Up

Woody Harrelson is known for his charismatic, outgoing personality, but the acclaimed actor has generally kept his family life out of the spotlight. Even so, occasional glimpses over the years have introduced fans to his three daughters: Deni, Zoe, and Makani, who were born in 1994, 1996, and 2006, respectively. Harrelson shares them with his longtime wife, Laura Louie, whom he married in 2008 after dating for roughly 20 years.

The Harrelson-Louie sisters continue to make only occasional public appearances. When they do step out, however, their family resemblance is hard to miss. Deni and Makani joined their parents at the 2023 New York City premiere of Harrelson’s sports dramedy “Champions.” In the film, Harrelson portrays a former minor league basketball assistant coach who begins leading a team of young players with learning disabilities as an alternative to serving jail time after an incident. Deni and Makani posed alongside their parents on the red carpet, giving photographers a rare look at the family together.

Zoe, the couple’s middle daughter, was not at the “Champions” premiere and has maintained an even quieter public profile than her sisters. She is now an attorney. Makani, meanwhile, attended the February 2023 Stella McCartney X Adidas party in Los Angeles on her own, where she appeared confident and stylish. She had also been photographed the previous year smiling with Xochitl Gomez at the premiere of the documentary “Mija.” Fans may see more of Harrelson and Louie’s daughters as the three women continue building lives of their own.

Woody Harrelson says his wife and daughters helped make him a better person

Although Woody Harrelson rarely discusses his family publicly, he has spoken warmly about the effect his wife and daughters have had on his life. In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, he explained that becoming famous as a cast member on “Cheers” in the 1980s changed his naturally “gregarious” personality. The constant attention from strangers, he said, caused him to withdraw. “The pressure of people that I didn’t know constantly wanting to talk to me made me recoil and become less outgoing. It had quite a negative impact,” he recalled.

Years later, Harrelson said his family helped him find his way back to a more open and grounded life. “Luckily, this life and my family — my wife and my daughters they kind of loved me into a better human being,” he told the publication. He has suggested that transformation began when Deni was born in 1994. Speaking with Esquire, Harrelson described her arrival this way: “This little being managed to get around all the obstacles — the gun turrets, the walls, the moats, the sentries — that were wrapped around my heart. My heart at that time needed her.” From then on, he embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly.

Harrelson’s career has continued to flourish, with the award-winning actor appearing in major films and television series including “Zombieland,” “The Hunger Games,” “The Messenger,” “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” and “True Detective.” He starred in the latter alongside his close friend Matthew McConaughey. Whether any of Harrelson’s daughters will eventually pursue acting remains unknown, but for now, each appears to be following her own path.
