“Heated Rivalry” fans, your time at the cottage is getting an extension.
The steamy gay hockey romance has become a breakout hit, and production is already underway on its highly anticipated second season. According to Deadline, the series is also filming Season 3 at the same time.
That is not the only new project in the works. Sources tell the outlet that a movie is scheduled to begin filming this December.
Deadline reports that the project is being described as either a Christmas special or a holiday-themed episode, with plans for a theatrical release next December.
According to sources, the film will not feature Season 1 leads Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, who play fan-favorite couple Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander.
Instead, the rumored focus is on Scott Hunter and Christopher “Kip” Grady, the breakout characters portrayed by François Arnaud and Robbie G.K. in the first season.
Canadian streamer Crave, the series’ home network, told Page Six on Saturday evening, “We have no projects to confirm.” In the United States, “Heated Rivalry” streams on HBO.
Rachel Reid, whose “Game Changers” novels inspired the series, previously wrote a short story called “Merry Christmas, Scott and Kip!” However, the story no longer appears to be listed on her website.
Both the “Game Changers Wiki” community and a Reddit page have noted that the story was once available to download from Reid’s site but has since disappeared and seemingly been removed.
“Heated Rivalry” became a global sensation after its first season premiered in late 2025, quickly turning its lead actors into international stars.
Dylan Walsh, who plays Shane’s father, previously fueled speculation that Seasons 2 and 3 were being filmed back-to-back. In a leaked Cameo video, he said the production was shooting 12 episodes in Canada.
The first season consisted of just six episodes, and showrunner Jacob Tierney confirmed during an appearance on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show last month that Season 2 would also have six.
That revelation led many fans to speculate that Season 3 could likewise consist of six episodes.
