Husband Whose Wife Smeared Faeces in His Mouth Seeks Fresh Start

A middle-class couple whose marriage disintegrated after the wife allegedly tried to smear faeces into her husband’s mouth during an argument about him “talking so much s***” are reportedly considering whether to reconcile.

Alison Moore subjected her husband, Rob, to a series of violent incidents over several months. The behaviour culminated in the distressing excrement attack after the couple argued on their way home from a local pub to their £1.2million farmhouse.

Mrs Moore, who has been staying in an Airbnb since their separation, was handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday.

The couple, both 63, recently placed their impressive three-bedroom farmhouse on the market. Neighbours initially assumed the sale marked the inevitable end of their marriage.

However, the Daily Mail understands that the proceeds from the sale could potentially fund a fresh start together, after the couple held tentative discussions about saving their relationship.

The elegant 18th-century property sits in a half-acre orchard and includes a garage large enough for six vehicles, stables, a paddock and landscaped gardens overlooking the surrounding countryside.

And, on the same day as Mrs Moore was being sentenced, the couple's £1.2million 18th century farmhouse in the sleepy Hampshire village of Damerham was being put on the market, leading many to assume that the couple were getting divorced

On the day Mrs Moore was sentenced, the couple’s £1.2million 18th-century farmhouse in the Hampshire village of Damerham was placed on the market, prompting speculation that they were divorcing

The property is located in Damerham, Hampshire, a small village of around 500 residents whose main amenities include a village hall and The Compasses pub.

That pub is unlikely to provide a reason for Mrs Moore to remain in the village. She has been barred after allegedly drinking a bottle of wine, taking cocaine there and then confronting another woman. More details of that incident emerged in court.

Locally dubbed “poogate”, the alleged attack on Mr Moore has become a frequent subject of conversation among drinkers at The Compasses and throughout the New Forest village.

The couple have become well known in Damerham, largely because of Mrs Moore’s conduct in recent years, which has resulted in her pub ban and more than one appearance before the courts.

News that the Moores may still hope to repair their marriage by selling the house and moving elsewhere has spread rapidly around the village this week, prompting widespread disbelief.

Mrs Moore is currently staying in a holiday rental in Dorset. Before her court hearing, she spent three weeks on remand at the women’s prison HMP Bronzefield.

Meanwhile, her estranged husband remains at the Damerham property with the couple’s two dogs while the house is marketed for sale.

Mr Moore, who married Alison 13 years ago, declined to comment when approached by the Mail this week.

But a friend of the couple who lives nearby said: “They have put the house up for sale, but although they have been living apart, they are still in contact and discussing the future — including whether it could still be together.

“It is difficult to believe they think they may have a future after what happened and considering how Alison has treated him over the years.

“But they are talking about making a fresh start away from Damerham. I think they want to live somewhere where nobody knows them.”

Another villager said: “I know I would not want to be with a woman who had put s*** in my mouth. I do not know how a couple comes back from something like that.

“But everyone is different, and if they can make it work, then hats off to them. Most men would not be able to do it.”

Mr Moore provided a victim impact statement during the hearing but asked for it not to be read aloud in court.

He also said he did not support a restraining order against his wife and left court alongside her.

Mrs Moore is a wealthy retired businesswoman who made her fortune in property.

Even before she was banned from The Compasses, however, she had developed a reputation for fiery behaviour in otherwise genteel Damerham.

A pub worker told the Daily Mail: “We took this action last year because she becomes quite uncontrollable after drinking. This is a quiet, friendly pub, but she could become very rowdy after a few drinks. She is the only person we have ever barred.”

A regular who is friends with Mr Moore said: “He is a lovely, quiet man, and nobody here has a bad word to say about him. I cannot say the same for Alison — she can become very troublesome after drinking.

“I am shocked that he is still considering staying with her, although it does not surprise me because Rob is such a gentle, soft-hearted person.”

But a friend of the Moores - pictured at their wedding 13 years ago - has told the Mail that there may be hope for the couple yet, with them dicussing a future together - and a fresh start

Southampton Crown Court heard that Mrs Moore, who has previous convictions for drink-driving, had voluntarily referred herself to the Priory rehabilitation clinic to examine her relationship with alcohol.

Her barrister, Rose Burns, said Mrs Moore had been suffering from depression following a series of bereavements.

She had lost both parents within a year, while her sister died earlier this year from a head injury sustained in a fall down the stairs.

The retired businesswoman had also recently lost an uncle, followed by the death of one of her dogs.

Ms Burns told the court: “A lack of self-control led her to behave in this way; she would not have done these things in her right mind.

“She is determined to change her behaviour and wants to find out whether reconciliation with her husband is possible.”

The court heard that Mrs Moore pushed her husband onto a bed at their home after accusing him of failing to support her at a pub and calling him “boring”.

The couple had spent the afternoon drinking at The Compasses and another pub before returning home, where the argument escalated.

During the incident, Mrs Moore allegedly shouted: “You talk so much s**t, I am going to make you eat it,” before attempting to carry out the threat.

Mr Moore managed to break free, wash his mouth and change his clothes. Police were called and Mrs Moore was arrested.

Before cleaning himself, however, he took a photograph showing his face smeared with faeces. The image was later shown in court.

He also said his wife had previously struck him in the back with a broom handle and hit him in the face while wearing her wedding ring.

Photographs taken after those incidents in March 2024 and August 2026 were presented to the court. They showed a cut above his eye and a visible reddened injury on his back.

The case was not Mrs Moore’s first encounter with the law.

In 2022, she became “besotted” with a builder named Gary House, who was working at the Moores’ home.

During the trial arising from that incident, the court heard that Mrs Moore drank a bottle of wine and took cocaine before walking 300 yards through the village at 11pm to Mr House’s home, where she confronted his partner of 11 years, Aimee Burnett.

A previous court case involving Mrs Moore heard how she became 'besotted' with Gary House, a builder who was working at the couple's marital home. One night Mrs Moore turned up at the builder's home and confronted Aimee Burnett, his partner of 11 years

Ms Burnett answered a knock at the door while watching a film.

She found Mrs Moore outside, who allegedly told her: “Your husband is trying to f*** me.”

After allegedly attempting to force her way into the property, Mrs Moore grabbed Ms Burnett by the hair and pulled her to the ground, leaving her “shaking and in complete shock”.

At the time, Mr House was upstairs in the bath listening to music.

Ms Burnett, who remains in Damerham but is now separated from Mr House, told the Daily Mail: “When I heard about the poo incident, I was not surprised. She has behaved abusively towards her husband and other people for a long time.

“I know their house is for sale, but I cannot believe they are considering staying together. What she did to her husband was disgusting. It took me a long time to recover from her attack, and when I see her in the village I walk straight past because I have nothing to say to her.”

Ms Burnett said Mrs Moore had arrived at her home at 11pm and claimed that her partner, Gary House, was trying to have sex with her, saying she had messages to prove it.

She said: “I had seen the messages, and it seemed to me that she wanted to have sex with Gary, rather than the other way around. I told her to leave, but she then came at me and tried to force her way into the house.”

Mrs Moore banged on the front door of Ms Burnett's house. Ms Burnett was watching a film while Mr House was upstairs having a bath. She told her love rival: 'Your husband is trying to f*** me.' and dragged by the hair before flinging her to the ground, leaving Ms Burnett shaken

Mrs Moore was arrested and charged with using violence to secure entry to premises and assault by beating.

She denied both charges but was convicted following a trial. She received a one-year restraining order over the “unpleasant” attack and was ordered to pay Ms Burnett £500 compensation, £620 in legal costs and a £95 victim surcharge.

Mrs Moore was also given a 12-month community order requiring her to complete 12 rehabilitation days and 100 hours of unpaid work.

Ms Burnett said she and Mr House ended their relationship soon after the incident.

She added: “If I were Rob Moore, I would do the same, but that is all I want to say about their relationship because I have nothing to do with either of them. If they are leaving Damerham, then I say good riddance.”
