In Japan, Mobile Suit Gundam reigns as the leading mecha brand, so it’s fitting that fans had a dedicated club to express their passion for the iconic giant robots. However, just as all One Year Wars must conclude, so too must the journey of the fan club linked to these colossal suits.
After a decade of service, Bandai is bringing the curtain down on the Gundam fanclub app. This platform had been an essential resource for enthusiasts, offering easy access to the latest videos and updates about the franchise. Now, with the final closure date announced, fans have roughly a year to continue their mecha adventures and stay engaged with the series.
Bandai has officially shared the news that the Gundam Fanclub app will soon cease operations, terminating the array of services it offered to devotees of the beloved mecha saga. The app was a treasure trove of production insights and videos from various Gundam anime series and collectibles. It also served as a portal for purchasing movie and event tickets, becoming an integral part of the fan experience.
Bandai Confirms Shutdown of the Official Gundam Fan Club App in 2027
It’s been officially announced by Bandai that the Gundam Fanclub app is shutting down, bringing an end to the services it provided for fans of the massively popular mecha phenomenon. This app had all manner of production materials and videos based around the various Gundam anime and collectibles, along with being a way to purchase tickets for movies and events.
It’s been a vital part of the Japanese fandom for over a decade now, with the app launching back in 2015. There was also a sense of access to the more creative side of the brand, which justified the various priced tiers for some of the content. Sadly, this will soon be no more, with the app set to close in just over a year.
The Gundam Fanclub app will shut down on March 31, 2027, ending 12 years of presence among one of the most dedicated anime fan bases. However, before this, the subscription renewals for the different tiers will be canceled on Feb. 27, 2026. This means that those who can access the app and seek to have a premium membership should sign up now to ensure they have an entire year’s worth of use out of the membership.
Those who join or renew their membership by Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, and/or after their birthday month will even get a 2026 design birthday card design. Newsletters and other features are still planned to continue until the very end of the app’s final closure, but even with this in mind, it will be a sad day for those who can’t get enough Gundam.
