Deadly crashes mark tragic start on roads ahead of Easter long weekend

It's been a tragic start to the Easter long weekend on the roads, with two people killed in crashes in New South Wales and South Australia.

This is in addition to the man and a woman killed in a two-vehicle crash in Perth's north-east on Thursday morning.

Police were first called to Old Port Wakefield Road in Two Wells, north of Adelaide, following reports a car hit a tree about 5pm yesterday.

A 56-year-old man was found critically injured after his Holden sedan left the road and crashed into a tree. He died at the scene. 

Major Crash investigators attended the scene and are investigating.

It comes as police in Sydney's south-west investigate another fatal crash, which ocurred at about 11.15pm.

Emergency services were called to Oxley Street in Campbelltown after receiving reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old man, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

The driver, a 26-year-old man, was not injured, and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Police established a crime scene and are investigating the incident.
