In a strong rebuttal to the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip, Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar have condemned recent Israeli airstrikes and insistently called for immediate adherence to ceasefire agreements, warning against actions that could further inflame the volatile situation.
This united declaration came on the heels of Israeli airstrikes that, according to local medical sources, resulted in the deaths of at least 16 Palestinians since the strikes began on Tuesday. Israeli authorities have justified these actions by stating their targets were Hamas militants.
“By escalating attacks, Israel risks undermining critical regional and international initiatives currently aimed at implementing the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict,” the nations articulated in their joint statement.
Amid these tensions, U.S. envoy Jared Kushner concluded a regional tour on Monday, aimed at fostering advancement of President Donald Trump’s proposed plan to resolve the conflict.
Emphasizing the importance of international oversight, the involved nations urged Trump’s Board of Peace to rigorously enforce the ceasefire compliance to prevent any further aggravation of hostilities.
A proposed road map envisaged Hamas giving up its weapons in phases as Israeli forces withdrew from the enclave and halted military operations.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected that sequencing, insisting that Hamas must fully disarm before an Israeli withdrawal.
Hamas has demanded that Israel adhere to the ceasefire and withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip.
Hamas has also disputed the sequencing of how Trump’s plan should be implemented.
At least 1,283 Palestinians have been killed in the territory since the ceasefire took effect last October, according to Gazan health officials, while the Israeli military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed.
