iPhone users have discovered a simple way to clear up storage space in their phones – and the hack comes just days before Taylor Swift’s sold-out Eras Tour concerts.
Music lovers have always struggled with recording their favourite concert moments on their phones, mostly due to lack of storage space.
Hannah Koumakis, from New Zealand, recently shared a hack that can free up your phone in minutes – and all you need is an external hard drive.
Instead of purchasing iCloud or Google Drive storage every month, you can simply buy a hard drive that plugs into your phone for a seamless transfer.
Once you do that, you can deleted the photos off your phone with the knowledge that they are safe on your storage device.
‘Oh my god I only just found this out,’ Hannah said in a video.
‘I was today years old when I found out you can plug your hard drive straight into your phone and save photos directly into a hard drive. This is insane.’
She shared a step-by-step tutorial of how to accomplish it.
First, you’ll need to buy a hard drive and an adaptor that connects it to your iPhone.
You can find the technology at JB-Hifi, Amazon, Officeworks, or various other online and in-person retailers.
Hannah first selected 35 photos, clicked on the ‘share’ icon on the bottom left corner and scrolled until she found the ‘Save to Files’ option
After securely plugging both devices in, you can start sharing files across them.

The hard drive will pop up as one of the files, and you can either choose to save all the photos together or create separate folders.
It’s important to remember that if you use a hard drive on an iPhone, you can only use it on other Apple devices.
If you attempt to plug it into an Android device it might reformat itself and get corrupted by trying to read a new file format.

Many were in awe of Hannah’s simple hack and couldn’t believe they hadn’t thought of it first.
‘I’ve been paying Apple for storage when I could be doing this,’ one said.
‘My Cloud is full and I’m always getting annoying notifications telling me to upgrade, so this is brilliant,’ another shared.
Some shared a few tips.
‘Back up your back up – I lost priceless baby photos in a flood one,’ a man cautioned.
‘You can also do this with a Canon camera and your phone,’ another revealed.
