In a shocking incident at Easts Leagues Club in Coorparoo, Clark is accused of repeatedly stabbing a waitress and injuring two others before club patrons and staff intervened on Thursday.
Clark was expected to make an appearance in Brisbane Magistrates Court today following a postponed session last Friday due to his hospitalization.
However, Clark remained absent from court as he is still hospitalized, the court was informed by magistrate Joseph Pinder.
“He is currently undergoing surgery on his hand,” stated the police prosecutor.
According to police reports, Clark was informed around 2 PM on Thursday of his exclusion from the club for giving the waitress “unwanted and unsolicited attention.”
About three hours later, he allegedly returned with a large carving knife and attacked the woman as dozens of people were dining.
“She was confronted in a hallway where she had little chance to escape,” Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham told reporters.
A 61-year-old chef came to her aid and was stabbed in the hip, giving the woman time to escape to the main dining area where patrons and staff helped her, police said.
“Unfortunately the interactions of the chef only slowed the offender’s progress,” Superintendent Massingham said.
The man allegedly pursued the woman and attacked her again in the busy dining area, inflicting defensive wounds to her hands and 10cm cuts to her head and wrist.
A 41-year-old female patron suffered a hand laceration as up to eight people overpowered the man, holding him down until police arrived minutes later.
Clark was also charged with stalking along with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful wounding and going armed to cause fear.
The police prosecutor sought a week-long adjournment to allow time for Clark to be transferred from hospital to the police watchhouse.
“That will give us a better idea,” Mr Pinder said.
Clark was remanded in custody to appear in court on Friday.
