Tragedy struck on the Gold Coast as a man in his 50s was fatally stabbed within a residential unit block.
The incident came to light when concerned citizens contacted authorities shortly after 1 p.m., reporting the erratic behavior of a man in his 20s.
Upon responding to the scene on Dutton Street in Coolangatta, officers discovered the lifeless body of the victim.
According to reports from 9News, the suspect allegedly approached workers at a nearby construction site, divulging the events before attempting to escape toward Upper Coomera.
Law enforcement managed to intercept the suspect’s vehicle and apprehend him shortly after 2 p.m.
Two separate crime scenes have been established, in Coolangatta and in Upper Coomera.
It is believed that the two men were known to each other, and there is no threat to the public.
Homicide detectives are investigating the incident.
