Authorities have successfully disrupted a drug trafficking ring aimed at distributing cocaine throughout St Kilda, following the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of narcotics valued at $35,000 from his residence.
The investigation into the suspected cocaine supply chain was initiated by detectives in May, prompted by multiple anonymous tips submitted to Crime Stoppers.
Early Thursday morning, around 5:30 am, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a St Kilda Road apartment in St Kilda.
“The allure of a life bankrolled by drug dealing might seem tempting, but the repercussions of being apprehended are severe,” remarked Senior Constable Tom Garside.
Within the apartment, police uncovered a significant amount of cocaine, with an estimated street value reaching $35,000.
Police also seized quantities of MDMA, cannabis and cash, and electronic devices.
The 25-year-old has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possessing cocaine, MDMA and cannabis, and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.
“Trafficking drugs will leave a smear against your name for the rest of your life; a criminal record will follow you to any job interview, relationships and friendships and will cost you far more than just the money gained from your offending.
“We thank the members of the community who provided police with key information via anonymous tip-offs and encourage anyone who has any inkling that a crime may have taken place to also make a report.”
He was bailed to appear in court in May next year.
