Singer D4vd has been taken into custody under suspicion of murdering a 14-year-old girl. Her decomposed body was discovered last year inside a seemingly abandoned Tesla, which was later found to be registered to him. The vehicle had been towed from the Hollywood Hills.
Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 20-year-old alt-pop artist, originally from Houston and legally named David Burke, is currently detained without the possibility of bail.
According to police, the case is set to be presented to the District Attorney’s Office on Monday, where they will decide on potential charges.
The singer has been the focus of an investigation by an LA County grand jury concerning the tragic death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
While the details of the investigation have been kept confidential, the probe—and Burke’s involvement as a primary suspect—came to light on February 25. This occurred when his family—his mother, father, and brother—challenged subpoenas in a Texas court that required them to testify.
Representatives for the singer have not responded to multiple requests from The Associated Press for comment on the case.
