Christmas movies are a holiday staple. They’re the perfect thing to watch if you want to get into the spirit of the season. Over the years, there have been several big blockbuster Christmas films. From the classic Home Alone to the successful Santa Clause trilogy, these films starred A-list actors.
However, Hallmark movies are also frequently released during the holidays. These films are usually made on a smaller budget and aren’t known to have the same star power. However, there have been a number of A-list stars who have appeared in these films.
Here are eight A-listers who made unlikely appearances in Hallmark holiday movies.
8/8 Patti LaBelle
Patti LaBelle is an iconic singer. She is a living legend who owns any stage she walks on. She also owns any film she makes an appearance in. And to everyone’s surprise, LaBelle made an appearance in not one, but two Hallmark Christmas movies. LaBelle’s first appearance came in 2018 when she had a role in the film Christmas Everlasting. LaBelle made another appearance a year later when she appeared in A Family Christmas Gift in 2019.
7/8 William Shatner
William Shatner is best known for his role on Star Trek, where he played James T. Kirk. Shatner also starred in T.J. Kirk and hosted the reality show Rescue 911. Shatner appeared in 3rd Rock from the Sun, The Practice, and Boston Legal. He even hosted his own talk show, Shatner’s Raw Nerve, where he interviewed various celebrities. Shatner later appeared in the Hallmark Christmas film A Carol Christmas, which featured many unexpected celebrity cameos. He played the roles of the Ghost of Christmas Present and Dr. Bob.
6/8 Kristin Davis
Kristin Davis rose to fame when she portrayed Charlotte York on Sex and the City. Davis also appeared in the Sex and the City films, as well as the spin-off series And Just Like That. Davis appeared in several films such as The Shaggy Dog, Couples Retreat, and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. In 2016, Davis added to her filmography by starring in the Hallmark movie A Heavenly Christmas. Davis plays a woman who recently passed away and is chosen to be a Christmas angel. She is assigned to help a man played by Will & Grace‘s Eric McCormack.

5/8 Jaime King
Jaime King has been a staple of the acting world for many years now. King began her career as a model for high fashion. She then turned her attention to acting and appeared in several films over the years. These films included Pearl Harbor, Sin City, and Hart of Dixie. King would jump into another acting arena in 2016, when she starred in The Mistletoe Promise. The Hallmark movie was about two people who decide to pretend to be a couple over the holiday season. The romantic holiday film marked a radical change of pace in King’s filmography.
4/8 Adrian Grenier
Adrian Grenier is best known for his role in the hit series Entourage. He’s also starred in films like Drive Me Crazy, The Devil Wears Prada, and Arsenal. Grenier also starred in the Hallmark sequel to the film Christmas at Graceland. In Christmas at Graceland: Home for the Holidays, Grenier plays a rich widower who ends up falling in love with his children’s temporary nanny. The film doesn’t star the same actors as the original nor does it follow the same storyline. The one thing both films do have in common is they’re both set in Memphis, Tennessee.
3/8 Ben Savage
Ben Savage starred in the iconic ’90s sitcom Boy Meets World, his best known role. Savage was on the show throughout its entire run, from 1993 to 2000. Savage also appeared in the spin-off series Girl Meets World from 2014 to 2017. Savage also starred in a Hallmark holiday movie in 2020 called Love, Lights, Hanukkah! In the film, Mia Kirshner plays a woman who celebrated Christmas her whole life. However, after taking a DNA test, she finds out that she is Jewish. The film follows her as she discovers new family members and a new romantic partner.
2/8 Henry Winkler
Henry Winkler is best known for his role as Fonzie on the legendary sitcom Happy Days. Winkler also became a character actor, playing roles in projects such as Scream, The Waterboy, Arrested Development, Holes, Black Adam, and Barry. In 2008, Winkler make an appearance in a Hallmark Christmas movie. The film The Most Wonderful Time of the Year featured Winkler playing the uncle of a single mom. Winkler’s character is trying to set her up with a man he met on a plane during the holiday season. This is yet another Christmas movie filled with romance.
1/8 LeAnn Rimes
LeAnn Rimes made a name for herself in the ’90s as a country pop star. Her brand of country music made her an A-list name in the music world. Rimes then decided to turn to acting, which is one of the hardest things for an established singer to do successfully. RImes acted in several films over the years. Among them was the 2018 Hallmark Christmas movie It’s Christmas Eve. Rimes stars in the title role of Eve, a superintendent set on cutting the school’s music program. The program is run by her neighbor whom Eve has some romantic tension with in the movie.
