Avril Lavigne and Tyga’s whirlwind relationship has reportedly come to an end, but it could become messy as the Canadian singer is apparently refusing to return a very expensive necklace he gifted her during their romance.
TMZ was the first to report the break-up. According to the publication, sources say there are “no hard feelings” and the split was a “mutual decision” between the pair. In fact, the break-up isn’t new. Avril and Tyga reportedly split weeks ago.
Busy schedules may have been to blame, as TMZ notes that Avril just finished a tour, while Tyga is currently making new music.
According to PEOPLE, even though the romance has ran its course, Avril plans to keep the $80,000 necklace Tyga gifted her in March, mere weeks after debuting their romances.
The custom piece was made by Tiffany & Co. and features 50 carats of white and blank diamonds in addition to pink sapphires, all of which spell out Avril’s name as well as adorn bedazzle skulls and the singer’s first initial.
At this time, it’s unclear if Tyga has requested the necklace back or is alright with Avril keeping it, despite breaking-up.
Avril & Tyga Went Public Right After She Broke Up With Her Fiancé Mod Sun
Avril and Tyga’s brief romance took many fans by surprise, especially since Avril had just broke up with her fiancé Mod Sun in February, weeks before confirming her romance with Tyga the following month.

There was speculation that Avril and Tyga began dating when she was still in a relationship, though nothing has been confirmed.
Mod Sun was reportedly taken aback by the break-up. After the news began circulating, his representative said that the rocker though they were still together when he left on tour. It appears the news made its way to the media before Mod Sun heard directly from Avril.
“[They] were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour so if anything has changed, that’s news to him,” his rep stated.
Many Fans Believe Avril & Tyga’s Relationship Was A Publicity Stunt
Another theory that’s made its way around the Internet is that Avril and Tyga’s romance was only a publicity stunt, though sources initially denied it. However, the theory is now also supported by the fact that the relationship was brief, and their seemingly amicable split comes shortly after the romance stopped making headlines.
It’s possible Avril agreed to a fake relationship to appease the tabloids to distract from her break-up with Mod Sun as well as bring attention to her new music (as she was about to go on tour shortly before debuting the new romance).
Similarly, Tyga may have felt it was a good opportunity to get his name in the headlines and help bring a bit of publicity to his career.
For now, it remains unconfirmed how serious Tyga and Avril’s relationship really was. But from breaking up engagements to buying $80,000 necklaces to nothing, it appeared to fizzle out just as quickly as it started. At least it seems to be an undramatic split (for now).
